For all of you who like to be sad, 3 pics of my accident

I'll give the full detailed report here.

I was driving home from work on Friday morning around 3 AM. I saw a disabled vehicle in the left lane and middle lane of I95 south. I pulled over about 500 feet in front of the vehicle on the shoulder and put on my blinkers. I found the people who were in the vehicle and called 911 for them, as they were injured and did not know where they were. As I am on the phone with 911 another car comes flying up the left lane, does not see the vehicle, hits it and bounces right into my car. Luckily I was not in the car and didn't get hurt at all. At the moment I am waiting on the insurance company to tell me how much they are going to give me for the car, as they have deemed it totaled.

Duct tape fixes everything. ;)

lol j/k. That sucks... Can you take parts off of a car while the insurance company is gathering up an estimate? I would take as much off as I could before giving it away.

Man I am really glad you are okay... People don't realize how dangerous the HWY can be... Not to thread jack by any means but this intended to be a reminder of how luck you are....

My cousin a while back about 24-25 yrs old is on the hwy changing his fiances tire.... and bare in mind they were as far off the road as they could get they had about 5 ft from the white line.

A underage drunk driver with no license, no insurance IN A STOLEN car hit him and dragged him 60+ft at 65+mph.

He died in the hospital, all this happened in front of his fiances eyes....

The guy was later found and convicted of vehicular man slaughter, and a laundry list of other charges and is in jail for a very very long time. If I remember correctly it is 40+yrs with good behavior... Something crazy

The guy ended up paying I think 250k to my Aunt/Uncle which is nothing to replace a kid of theirs...

So be thankful you are okay, just remember you could be dead, and remember not to drink and drive really it isn't worth your life or others....

I went to pull stuff off the car today, the impound wouldn't let me, they wouldn't even let me take pictures of the car. Maybe I can work something out when I go to give the title to the insurance company. I don't know yet

Well if I were you, I would call up the insurance company and tell them that I better get an extra pretty penny for the excess parts on the car. If they are going to pay you for a car that is completely stock, they better be getting a f**king car that is completely stock.

Why didn't you just have it towed to your house?

That's what I did when my civic was totaled. A lot easier to take off parts when the car is sitting in your driveway.

You can't take parts off until the insurance adjuster comes and does an estimate.

Then you can "buy back" your car for x amount of dollars less than if they take the car.

THEN you can take stuff off, and part out the rest. And make a lot more money.

Taking stuff off the car can lead to the insurance company NOT paying out! I've seen it happen to a few friends.

Ah yes that's how it works. Been a long time since I've heard about the process.

I would definitely buy it back and part it out if you've put a lot of parts into it.

Was it Thursday night, Friday morning on I95 South between exits 3 and 4? If so yes that is the one I was a witness to and part of.

I am gonna see what happens with the parts, mainly because I am interested in finding a similar car, that most of the parts should work with. I may come out of this a little better then I went in.... Hopefully
