Glad your OK man. Just a shitty situation overall.

You can't take parts off until the insurance adjuster comes and does an estimate.

Then you can "buy back" your car for x amount of dollars less than if they take the car.

THEN you can take stuff off, and part out the rest. And make a lot more money.

Taking stuff off the car can lead to the insurance company NOT paying out! I've seen it happen to a few friends.
When my car was totaled (not my fault) I was able to get them to tow the car back to my house for 24 hrs before it went to the junkyard. I some of my aftermarket stuff off but had to have a stock replacement if the part was original to the car.

Well if I were you, I would call up the insurance company and tell them that I better get an extra pretty penny for the excess parts on the car. If they are going to pay you for a car that is completely stock, they better be getting a f**king car that is completely stock.
Doesn't work like that. If the parts aren't originally insured, they won't pay put. Trust me I found out the hard way. So, they totaled the car, I paid a few hundred to get it out of the junkyard, and parted it out for more than I originally bought it for 8 years prior.

The coupe is fully insured, all mods listed and covered now.

OP---the only thing you can do is haggle your insurance agent and get him/her to the yard to take the pix and estimate the damage ASAP so you can buy your car out.

GL and thank goodness you're OK.

So the insurance company gave me a check for $3700. I didn't even ask to buy the car back, they gave me money for the rims and coilovers. I bought the wife a 2002 Saturn, and put a down payment on a 99 Civic Cx hatch. I should go pick it up on Wednesday. Will post pics asap.
