New to site with a new ride.. thoughts?

My name is Julian and i just picked up this ride from a buddy who needed cash. Anyway i like Civic but i don't really know a whole lot about them. it's pretty clean for the most part but i'll let the pics speak for themselves. Let me know what you guys think cause i'm sure you have way more knowledge then i do about this ride..

When i first saw the engine bay i was like "Whoa!, didn't see that coming" just seems like some odd colors to go with even if you are testing colors out.. So anyway can anyone tell me what i got and maybe what intake will work for this thing?

Very nice if it were mine these are all the things i'd do first:
-lose the eyelids
-lose those wheels
-buy some kind of lip no mugen or type r because those are played out (my opinion)
-lose those green advan and get red ones

Yeah the front bumper isn't the greatest.. It actually looks rattle canned in some spots but it's workin for now. I picked up the car for 3k so i went in knowing it needed work.. Lol. Another reason i'm going to get rid of the bumper is that they tried to do some kind of ram air intake on the front bumper so they cut a circle hole and put in some kind of ducting it's not even pipe it's like dryer venting or something. Anyway thanks for checking it out.

Thanks, yeah i thought it was a decent pick up, i mean if all else fails i'm sure i can get more then that out of it and pick up something else.

Thanks, I want to try and stay with the whole "Blacked out" look. I don't want to take it too far like blacking out the headlights and tail lights though, i think that might take it a little too far. Maybe just pick up some headlights with black housing.

Well there's a couple things today that i found out today that i didn't know when i picked it up..
1st - it's not the orig engine, I read that the DX comes with a Y7 and mine has a Y8.
2nd - The intake that's in it didn't have a filter which wasn't a huge deal till today when i popped the hood the intake pipe was just chillin not even on the manifold. So yeah, it doesn't even fit.
It's just been little things here and there well little other than the Engine not being orig. cause the car it self reads 116k miles on it but why would anyone need to change out an engine that early, unless they were going with a B16 instead but even then... Idk.
So needless to say i think my buddy was kinda ripped off when he traded his hatch for it but i guess still for 3K i guess it's alright... Oh and i'll get some shots of the engine bay just know ahead of time there's aftermarket colors that i can't figure out why they were used...

if its a y8, that was because the original owner wanted vtec, y8 does have more power then a y7, but who knows what the plan was.

I have seen and know alot of people that swap out the y7 for the y8 cause its a small hp bump the y8 has vetc the y8's are cheap as hell to find complete. The y8 is at least a modable d series the y7 to almost everbody is not besides maybe i/h/e. Wish he would have swapped the ac to hope you live somewhere it isnt hot.

Umm... no i don't think there is any reason what so ever for those colors.. I was gonna pick up some paint and redo them.. idk exactly what color yet but definitely not going to be anything as crazy as what it has now. I was thinking black on the head and have HONDA a different color, like a white or red or something.
I'll have to check around for another pipe cause this one is like 1.5" bigger than what the manifold is lol..

I live in Washington State and in the summer time it can get up there but yeah i hear ya i was looking into it but damn idk if i'd be able to do it myself..

Yeah bout the hole, that's how he got it when he traded his hatch for it.. I think they were going for a ram air intake or something... Idk what they were thinking when they tried to pull that off.

Throw that whole pipe you already have away is what i meant if it dosent fit it dosent fit. Order an ebay sri kit of a d16y8 when you get it throw the filter away that came with it. Order an aem dryflow filter put it on there and your good.

Just so i don't order something i don't need or won't be able to use, either one of these guys should work right? It's throwing me off cause of the picture mine obviously doesn't drop to the right but i'm sure i would just have to flip it and make a path for the hoses. I couldn't find too much on ebay and amazon by searching D16y8 had to punch in Civic Ex.

Not really sure on those since they say they are 99-00 specific. Go to summit and type in d16y8 and look at the aem intake and you will see how it is supposed to look and what you need.

Nothing beats an OEM intake lol i hate rocking those no name short rams if you're gonna go no name i'd go get a cold air
