Alright, so i've been on this forum for a good lil min now. All i want to kno is why do the people on this site always say lower/drop your car. Also whats up with the rim size 15's - 16's. Those are really small rims. Pretty much what's the big deal with those two things. Oh and by the way it looks good some times.

The reasoning for the rims size is because anything larger then 16" is to big for these small cars, it makes them way out of proportion going any larger.

As far as the dropping, its just what they like, I have never liked lowered cars as the serve little purpose for normal driving with how roads are, my next door neighbor and friend growing up had a 93 teg and dropped it 2" and now he cant even pull out of the driveway, his first attempt he ripped is exhaust off...so he has to no lie jack the car up on rollers whenever he wants in/out his driveway and push it in.

It's personal preference. Most of the members of the site seems to prefer lowered cars, lips, and 15-16 inch rims. That is why you see it brought up more. Kind of common sense really.

The reason I prefer 15/16s is so you can still run tires w/ enough rubber to not f**k them up if you hit potholes and s**t. I have yet to live in an area that isn't coverd in road imperfections. Also anything above 17 and you take away from ur turning radios. And Tate up ur wheel wells/ fenders will scrape on ur wheels ect. Civics prior to 05 just weren't desinge to handle such wheels. Also it will affect ur gas milagr the bigger you go w/ rims.

In short, your friend is a complete dipshit on driving a lowered car.

I had 17s on my sedan. They looked decent, but the ride quality was horrible. I felt every road imperfection on the road. When I switch them on my coupe I couldn't turn without rubbing the inside of the fenders. So I went with 15s. Looks way better and rides better. Sort of.

Smaller wheels = less rotating/unsprung weight which does lead to better handling/acceleration/braking/etc. But that is not always the case if the wheels are made by a reputable company. Like my 14" wheels are lighter than my OEM 13" steelies.

Overall wheel diameter (both rim and tire) also applies, which a larger than stock overall diameter gives a taller gearing.

Its your car, do what you like with it!
Dont let people tell you how to build YOUR car.

I guess its just personal preference for the most part.

Yeah I got 15s with a 195/50 tread on them bc as stated above, I like having a little tread on my wheels bc the roads I drive daily are horrible!! I have only seen very, very few civics with a 17 that look... "decent" Again as stated above ya friend must not be able to drive a lowered car bc mine is dropped at least 2" and with the conditions I must drive daily... Most people can't do it. Stock height cars will scrape in my driveway... It's that bad.

personally i just like the look of it. if the car was made to have 17 in wheels it would have them. i dont like anything bigger than 15's and i havent lowered my car yet because i live in pennsylvania and the roads are s**t. i hate any car with big chrome wheels and i also dont want my car sitting like a monster truck

2" isn't s**t for lowering, and your friend is a moron if he can't drive the car right

Thank you.
When I had my 17s it rode exceptionally smooth and I was running a 205/17/40. I lost a lot of handling and agility due to a severe drop and oversized rims though. My car is more of a hardparker though so if I do get rims again, they'll be a 16x8 after I'm done cutting, or a diff offset 17 if I can make it fit.

Plain and simple, modified cars look silly if not lowered, ESP if you put rims on them.

I had 17's on my sedan and they were ok. Not too bad, but the ride was harsh. I put 16 on my del sol and it's great. They look good but I still have pleanty of "meat" on them.
Lowering can improve your handling a little and also makes the car look better. It gives it a more sporty look.
