First car.. First Honda!

Well I read that directly out of a honda tech book lol, but idk maybe I misread it ill check later. But yeah the vtec issue isn't with me. Mine kicks in just. But idk I'm not a big fan of silver, white possibly.. i'd probably go with white and then a maroon engine bay, that'd be tight. I wouldn't have to worry about coilovers because I've got some tein street basis coils on the way, and they're only going to get used spring through fall, michigan winters are harsh.. so a b20 is a decently quick motor? I need somethin with a good pull.

What's your budget? B18c1 would be great choice in my opinion

Well my motor more than likely won't be getting bought until next spring. In december ill have a little over 4k to put in it, I would have more but the majority of that trust fund is going into schooling, I'm liking the sound of the b18..I have yet to wing a legit race in this car and irs getting old lol. So b18 will get the job done?

Hondas aren't race cars and aren't designed to be. Personally I would get some thing RWD or AWD to go fast in. Just my.02

Like a typhoon? XD my buddy at work has one that's mint, that thing hauls ass lol. But I like fwd, I'm not looking for something that's crazy fasy, just faster than what I've got, like I said in a previous post, I'm not some rice boy that will rev up at a stop light with an old lady next to me lol.

well you've got your point about the v8 vs a 4banger, but it was a v6 :ohsnap: haha, and it was on the north side of M6, where cops cant even run radar due to no shoulder/center, but even then i only hit 100 for like 5 seconds flat and backed off. ANYHOO, lol. so you think a b20 swap would really be worth it? 2 cams vs 1 i would think so but does torque matter that much?

Note: meant 131, not 196.. was a long day at work. lol.

About 75% of Durangos have V8s, a 6 is pretty rare. But still, he was making 12 mpg lololol

I love me some s-curve in my Si lol and yes, torque is the actual pull a motor has, hp has more to do with how much air you can run through it. Still, 145hp versus 170-200 in a B18.. It all comes down to how much money you ultimately want to spend. You can make any motor fast with enough work and parts.

Soooo if something is rwd or awd it's designed to be a race car? Well I better run and get me a Chevette! lmao

Well I think I've got a plan starting to come together.. I'm going to get a lot of suspension and minor visuals done, then pull the d16 and the outer painted gloss white with a midori green engine bay, THEN go with a b20 just to get me away from sohc and just build it up when I can.

dang you make the y8 sound slow as s*** lol, I've managed to keep up with two different 2004ish v6 mustangs that all they had was an exhaust with my y8 and all I have is I/H/E... anyways it sounds like a good plan you got going there

edit: at least you don't have a d15 like my brother has in his eg hatch... I can pull on it in 5th gear even when he down shifts to 4th lol

Keep in mind that its an automatic, that's probably got a bit to do with it, I would assume. Anyone know anything about a 5spd conversion? Is it difficult? Would a noobass like myself be able to follow some form of instruction to install?

I know you're just being a smartass, but why do you think the fastest Civics around are converted to RWD?

And BTW I would totally do a V8 swap into a Chevette, that would be an epic sleeper!...

I had a friend with one of those Scooter Chevettes, the V6 ones. It was pretty fast. But still.. it was a Chevette lol

ahh ok gotcha. yea that would make a big difference. as far as the auto to manual swap its about like an engine swap as far as difficulty goes

looks good man, do the manual swap when you conver to b20, because your going to have to get a new b series trans anyway.

btw, vtec needs:
-car to be warmed up
-enough oil pressure
-car needs to be moving, there is no set speed when it can engage, just prevents it from kicking in if you rev your engine while stopped.
your car should hit around 5500
