Random question OP. I know your info says your from CO, but I've been seeing this miata around Indy that looks EXACTLY like the one you used to have. Same color, wheels (I think), stance, everything. Any chance its the same?

I don't believe so, the guy who I traded lives in Castlerock, CO. He's a youngin, still in high school I believe haha.
But I have noticed after selling mine there's quite a few roadster builds that are very similar to the one I made, so maybe I inspired a few people ;D

Nice car, always loved that body style 240. Probably will get one for my next project one day or a datsun 510 with an rb20 =)

Thanks! A 510 with an RB20 would be a fun build ;)

Got the car running the other night, drove it across the street then it died LOL. Pushed it back but it will be back on the streets again this weekend, then pics!

Not to be a total stickler, but i followed your miata build and now this one and cant help noticing that appearance seems to preside over performance with your builds. If i had your money, can only hope, i would be putting the money into the engine and ride stability. Kudos for your suspension choices though. Id like to see one of your builds on the track one of these days.

Sidequestion- Are the 240 parts really that much more expensive than mazda and civs?

To be honest, I'm very picky with the exterior of my cars. I love a good presentable ride before performance mods. Everyone around my area have beat up cars that are super quick. I'd rather have something that actually turns heads first. I don't know, could get hated on for that but who cares, we all build our cars differently right?

I'll tell you this though, my exterior of this car is almost where I want it then I will be focusing on the KA-T. It is already fast for what it is, but it definitely needs more. It will end up at the track this year actually, as soon as I move into my new place I will be getting it ready!

As far as the parts prices, it depends on what you want to do, mainly with any car. If your focus on a 240 is just a drift missile with a body kit and an SR, then no, you could build one up for pretty damn cheap. But if you want all OEM aero, good suspension arms and coils and performance parts, it will get very expensive. My old Miata and Civic builds seem pretty cheap compared to this one, so with the direction I'm personally going, I'd have to say yes, they are. haha

Yeah i hear ya. Down here in Florida the rice&beans are all over and its rare to find a clean car, let alone one that has the guts to back up the look. And i didnt even consider the OEM stuff, thats def pricier.

Also i dont remember reading, but how much did you get the 240 for?

I traded the old Miata for the 240, all the info is on the first page ;)

Well, sort of a shitty update. February isn't my month, but yet it's the most exciting. My girlfriend of 4 years (which I was planning on proposing THIS year..) decided to leave me. Still no reason, so it's been a hard week or two. But, my realtor called me yesterday and said the bank of this pre-forclosed house accepted my offer, and we will be beginning the closing process. So within 45 days, I will be in my new home! Time to start a new life and focus on this house and my cars. The 180 will be getting lots more considering the amount of cash I will be saving. I'll update soon with pics of the car hopefully outside of the garage haha.

Thanks everyone! It sucks but I agree with 203CT, what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. And Chris, thanks brotha, I appreciate it! At least now if I want to take a road trip out there I don't have to ask permission, eh? haha.

Well me and my old roommate got working on his coupe. A month or so ago we swapped his intake manifold for a Greddy intake mani, and after the test drive the car just started to run like crap. We couldn't get to it until now because of complications with my work schedule and him having a kid. But, we got to it. We saw one of the intake valves was pressed down even with the cam not pressing on it, so we figured it was a bent valve.

We pulled the head to find what? The end of a ziptie was IN his cumbustion chamber and got crammed between the valve and the head, keeping it open. What the hell are the chances of that? Here's some pics:

Here's the car we were working on:

Pulled the head to find an HKS head gasket, pretty neat find.

Here's the piece of 'metal' we found, didnt know what it was till we popped it out

And there it is...a piece of a ziptie.

SO! With that being said, if you're going to cut zipties, make sure there is NO way the ends can fly off and into your motor. haha

Both of our beasts together for shits n giggles ;)
