So far I'm liking overclock and tomshardware. Already gaining some knowledge... and with that, gaining excitement. lol. I might end up ordering this thing sooner than planned.. Going to try to hold myself back though.

Well if you plan to piece it together over time, there is no problem with picking out a few things now that won't really change no matter how much you learn later. Like, you're 99% going to want an ATX case, whether it be a micro ATX, mini, mid, or full-tower ATX. ATX is the current standard for motherboards so the only real mistake you can make is to buy something like a BTX case. Most cases will be mid-tower ATX because they hold plenty and still fit under a desk. Newegg has a huge selection and a ton of manufacturer rebates. I picked up my Cooler Master Storm Scout for like $60 there.

Things to consider will be aesthetics and price (obviously), number of and location of cooling fans, wire management capability, is the interior finished/painted or bare steel, number of 5.25" and 3.5" drive bays and how they operate (screws, clips, rails, etc), and then extra features like LED light controller, front USB 2.0 or 3.0 inputs, digital display, does it have a carry handle, does it have a side window, and other stuff like that.

And this is another site I like, which is good for comparing graphics cards:

Very helpful! I'll be adding all of that to my info "list" when I get home, later.

I can't start piecing it together now... The second I get the first piece in, my willpower will be completely gone.. I'll have to buy the whole thing immediately

I'm a member on overclock.net. Been there for like two or three years now. It's a great site. Built my own water cooled pc. I'd be glad to help you out.

Yea, the HAF series are nice too. That was one of my top 5 picks originally, but I went with the scout because of the larger plexi window, and black finished interior. The HAF has a nice big side fan though :thumbs up

I painted the interior of mine black and bought the window side panel. It looks really nice. Dust is always an issue though since High Air Flow = lots of mesh = humongous dust magnet.

Ive got the same dust problem. Every few weeks I blow out the case with an air can. The front air filter does collect a lot of it, but I may invest in some filter mesh for the other fans too. I think newegg carries it.

*edit*
I did notice a decrease in dust collecting on the mobo and gpu cards when I swapped a regular fan out for a 1.6A high performance fan (the kind found in a dell xeon server) on the front of the case. It seems to stop dust from actually getting a chance to settle. The downfall is that even at 30-40% power, that biatch is loud!

*double ninja-edit*
While on the topic, if anyone is interested in some monster fans, I recommend these Nidec ultra flows. They are an alternative to water cooling for overclocked rigs:

Lol... I've got two Scythe Ultra Kaze 3K's in my rig. At full speed it sounds like a vacuum cleaner. I keep them on low though.

I think I have an OCN account, but I never use it. I mainly just browse all the write-ups because most are easy to understand and super informative.

Not really on the PC building side but for all the tech people out there I was told about the Microsoft Virtual Academy the other day. Its free if you have a Hotmail, Live, or other Microsoft account of any kind. Great resource for information and learning.
