So I installed the head gasket yesterday, filled the fluids and let it sit overnight. It is leaking coolant out of the head gasket. Not a lot, but a noticeable amount. So... I don't know what to do, I need a car, but I can't get it to run right. I'm seriously about to buy a cheap Civic to daily while I get this fixed.
You could have damaged the head gasket when setting the head. If not that, then it could be that the head and block need machined to be level. Aluminum engines will warp slightly over time, and especially if its been overheated too badly.

I'm starting to think the head is warped, but I really don't want to take it all apart again to check...
Well anyway, here are some pics from this weekend.

Old gasket. It wasn't broken anywhere, but the top, black layer was worn off. Not sure what this means??
Here is the spot where I notice the leaking. Coolant comes out along the top of the trans.
So I woke up this morning and went to check the car, which hadn't been started since I replaced the head gasket. There was a little puddle of coolant under the car. I started it and ran it for 15 mins, just idling. Then I wiped all the coolant off the block and ground and topped off the reservoir. About an hour later, before I went to work I started it and drove around the block and let it idle for a little. Some coolant had leaked out so I wiped it off and topped off the reservoir again. Then I went to work for 9 hours. When I got home, there were a few tiny little spots of coolant under the car. I started it up and drove it for 15 min, really easy. I pulled it back into the garage and there was some coolant on the block and there is still a smoke from the exhaust like coolant burning. The killer: I pulled off the oil cap and there was white underneath. Coolant in the oil...
At this point, I'm broken. I have no idea what to do. I'm so sick of trying to fix all these issues. I don't know what to say, I almost don't even want to look at it.
Do you have any ideas on how much it will cost? Will machining it cause issues with valve to piston clearance? Should I put in a new head gasket when I do it?
with the dsm the head gasket had blown on the previous owner he went to some shady shop they told him the radiater was the problem. They charged him like 300 bucks to put it in then let him leave and going back down the highway with the head gasket still blown so it overheated again and warped the head.
