So, yea. Title pretty much says it all, cable just got cut off :( I'm not looking to get flamed or bashed, I new it was coming, but dammit things just aren't working out in a timely manner. Bills are piling up, I can't find a job to save my life, I have 2 5th gens that don't move, and now I'm stuck listening to mickey mouse club house dvds :/ Hopefully my next sale goes through, if not I'm gonna really start stressing :banghead::banghead::banghead:

Thanks man, and I know. I an usually a very optimistic person, and I usually don't complain about such trivial stuff, but I'm getting a bit overwhelmed with everything happening. Honestly, I kinda regret buying my coupe, I wouldn't be in this position if I had waited. That's where the catch 22 comes in ; can't get a job without a car, can't afford a car without a job. My wife will be home from work soon, and then it's going down. Finish up the build I'm selling, clean out the Si for better pics, and then I guess I'll have to go to a family members house to upload pics and hopeful sell some parts off the Si. I've really got "all my eggs in one basket" with this build, but I have a good feeling about it. I just hope it works out this time, he's flaked on me before :/

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

I'm a part-time stay at home mom these days... I can def. relate on bills, the hatchies sitting in the garage and Disney Junior being on 24/7. Cable is the only thing left to keep your sanity. Have you been looking into things to do for free to get you out of the house in the meantime with your little one?

That's just it, I'm suck at home all day because of where we live, and only having one running civic :/ When the digital cable got suspended, along with our internet, I thought I was gonna go completely crazy, as my soon watched disney junior regularly as well. We went to pbs temporarily until he spotted a MMCH dvd at walmart, which I didn't mind, at first lol

Today has been a giant headache, I'm just hoping like hell that this sale goes through. If so, the coupe is going on the back burner (next to the hatch) and I'm turning the digital cable and internet back on. As soon as I find a job, the build can begin.

So you have a phone w/ internet, and you have 2 cars that you can part out, but you can find time to post? I know you said no bashing, but what do you expect, and how can you not see what's wrong here?

Do you know how many people in this world get to work w/o owning their own vehicle? We are the only county in the world where the average household has 2 cars. Most other countries have 1, if not 1 at all. Most walk and/or commute using public transit of some sort.

When I was in a tough spot I started selling off my personal items. Did I want to? F*ck no, but I did what I had to, to stay afloat and to make things work for the mess ups I did.

I see where you're coming from, but, I only have one parts car lol the other one is supposed to be my daily, but it hasn't worked out just yet.

As far as this phone, it's a metro pos and I have to have a phone being a stay at home dad, in the event that something were to happen to my son.

There are NO jobs within the public transportation bus loops, and I would have to pick up and drop of my son at day care, which they don't do either.

Our lease is up in december, and we are moving to a better area, with more jobs and better day cares. It's just that time send to be creeping and dec won't come fast enough.

No jobs huh? Fast food income is better than no income. Lower your standards and put your family's needs first...not your pride.

Besides...cable isn't necessary to survive, neither is home internet. Yes I realize jobs are mostly online now, but the unemployment office is free and open to anyone. When I was laid off and had to do my weekly reportings in there, I'd see parents loaded up w/ their kids in there b/c they didn't have service at home and/or sitters. I'm sure they didn't enjoy doing that, but they were doing what they had to do.

You can still sell off everything possible on one car, then sell the shell or scrap it for money. It's more than you have now. Let's say you get the other car running. Yay you now have a running car, but no money to put gas in it.

I have noticed I have become increasingly intolerant of people lately due to circumstances like this, and taking everything for granted. I really am not trying to come off as a d**k, but FFS people...wake the hell up.

Look, I get it, but you don't have all the details so your "intolerance" falls on deaf ears, figuratively.

I have applied EVERYWHERE so I don't wanna hear this stuff about fast food and pride.

Ever heard of NASA? Well there are literally rocket scientists working at the fast food places here, the shuttle program getting shut down has completely ruined any chances of "regular guy"such as myself getting a job within the realms of this ghost town.

I'm not trying to be an ass either, I have sold off anything of value, and have listings up for the things I haven't gotten rid of yet, but as I said, this place sucks.

Is unemployment not an option for you? Any previous work history etc.? I know what it's like to be in a tough spot. I'm an IT engineer with 7+ years of experience, and certs out the ass. It took me almost 2 years to find a job. My unemployment was literally weeks away from running out, which was literally BARELY enough to pay my bills, and I got lucky and got hired by a company that pays me good money to do what I love. Keep your head up, things will get better. I do agree with Puma in a sense, though. You've gotta do what you've gotta do. If the situation is so bad that your amenities are getting shut off, it's time to get rid of some of your toys. A project car is a BAD idea with no viable source of income (I did the same thing.. bought a project car, lost my job, and shat bricks. Thankfully, the car ran, and just needed minor work, so I was able to sell it and get a stock EJ8). Do what you've gotta do man!

Clearly you haven't. McDonald's will take anyone. Go there, apply, and prove me wrong. $7.50/hr is better than $0.00/hr. If you're a regular guy w/ half a brain you'll become a manager in no time.

Betcha didn't know that McDonald's franchise owners are the wealthiest franchisees in the country, or at least last year they were. On average they clear $100k a year.

I know you don't wanna be a fry guy...but if it keeps your family ALIVE AND WELL then I'd be all over it.

Everyone can always look from the outside in and say do this or should have done this, but there is always more to the story.
I had been unemployed as have been a lot of people, I just immediately cut all the fat out like internet, cable, dropped insurance down to bare minimum, ate ramen noodles every day lol. You have a kid so that is somewhat different but just keep hitting the streets and use the library or a friends house for the internet to apply. Things will get better only when you really want them to get better and not just become complacent with your situation, so keep your head up and do what you can

@puma been there, done that, did you may read the part about rocket scientists? I've applied everywhere, that includes mcdonalds, burger king, taco bell, wendy's... The list goes on. My wife came home from work, saw how stressed I was, handed me my favorite CD, and said "I got him (our son) go do what you gotta do, I love you, good luck" so I haven't been ignoring y'all, just pounding the pavement. I will elaborate on the situation when I get home, but I guess it's my fault for not providing excruciating details pertaining to my situation, lesion learned: people will assume they know the whole story if you don't lay it out cut and dry.

I appreciate everyones input, I'll catch up later.

This. When I was laid off the first time I dropped all extras of any sorts and I still lost my home. Talk about a blow to your pride. I was a week away from living in my car when I gave it one more shot of asking friends for a place to crash, and a friend piped up and helped. The experience has forever changed me.

While I have added back cable and whatnot, I don't have the 'premiums' I used to have. I ration things much better, bargain shop, shop local, re-use anything I can, walk most places if possible/health permitting.

I came from a poor, very frugal family, and once I got on my own and started making amazing money I blew it all. Now I make OK money and I'm scared to touch it. Partly in fear of 'what if it happens again', the other part I realized I didn't need any of that s**t.

Living the more simpler life I do now, I've never been so happy. I'm still beyond broke, but I find myself volunteering now, and helping those who are in more need than I ever was.

Like I said, I truly didn't mean to come across as a d**k; I'm just a black and white person. There is a reaction for every action, no matter what. You've lost your job somehow--that's not my business. There are ways to prevent other things though.

I was laid off..not by choice obviously. I could've stayed afloat though if I previously managed money better and had it to fall back on.

Ya know, everyone that told me that line I hated. I thought they were all full of it b/c they weren't going through tough times like I was. Then one day I just woke up and started to think how everyone told me to and oddly enough, things have gotten better.

I now find the positive in everyday. I'm still flat broke and recovering...but I have food in my belly(i'm overweight so obviously i'm doing OK lol), a roof over my head, a car in my garage..hell I HAVE a garage..etc etc.

I'm not religious so I don't thank Jesus for anything...I'm just more appreciative than I ever have been.

Actually, McDonald's wouldn't even give me an interview when I applied a while back. If they don't need somebody, they don't need somebody. If you have no experience in that line of work, you get shoved to the back. With 40 years old out of work, they have begun moving to fast food jobs and are much more dependable than the younger employees. Even McDonald's isn't a guarantee anymore. I live about 3 hours away from OP, so I assume the job market over here isn't too much different than it is there. s*** just sucks right now.

OP - Have you tried Human Intelligence Task jobs? Like Amazon's Mechanical Turk? It's a great way to supplement your family's income, and you can do it while you're at home with the kids.

2 years ago I was out of a job, had my car blow up and had a bunch of other personal/family stuff all happen in about a 6 week span. I was reasonably broke, stressed out, couldn't find work and needed a car. I felt really s***ty about the way things were going but eventually after a few months things changed. I got a new job that was better than the one I lost. I still have a modest salary but I make more now than I would have been making 5 years from now if I was still at the company that let me go. Now I have a pretty new car that is almost paid off, my credit score is kicking ass and I just bought my first house.

I'm not bragging, but the point is I was in a situation kind of like yours and in only about 2 years (not really that long) things have completely changed for the better. Everyone's situation is different but nothing is impossible. If you keep your head up and stay positive, at least you're giving yourself a chance.

What is your line of work? If you weren't desperate for a job, what type of career would you be pursuing?

Target is ALWAYS hiring. Especially since it's back to school season, Halloween, and then Christmas. Perfect time to get a job with them. Hell, I've been with the company for 5 years.

d**k's Sporting Goods will hire anyone and they have BCBS insurance! Only thing is they will work you like a dog...

Golf courses as a cart guy. The pay is s**t, but you get to golf for free plus you get to rub elbows with CEO's and network from there.

I'm more frugal than Kelly and do without A LOT of materialistic things. I haven't had new bras, underwear, and socks in 2 years. I haven't had my nails done in 4 years since my wedding. I stopped wearing makeup 3 years ago. I clip coupons as a hobby since January. The most I've saved is 76% at Dominick's. I sit in the dark during the day and open the curtains for natural light. I use to only do laundry at night, but my eyes aren't the greatest climbing down into the dark the basement with just a tap led light. I fell down the stairs.

I take advantage of free days at the zoo's, aquariums, museums and local small farms. I go to the library to check out new movies, books, and cd's for the whole family. My daughter goes nuts with the puppets, puzzles and games. I use to hit up the library for free interwebz when I was in college 1000 years ago and didn't own a computer... We go on long walks around the neighborhood to the various parks in the area so she still gets some interaction with kids her age. I'm still debating preschool since it's $2k-$3500 a year for 5 days a week.

Kelly? Overweight? Apparently I must need new contacts because you look healthy to me. :?:

If you're near Cape Canveral there is still lots to do in the area for free. Gotta look into it man!
