Another thing is having no job can be hard on the other person in the relationship, give your wife a hug and say thanks for all you do and your understanding. Being down all the time can take its toll so don't let other things go. I learned this the hard way lol.
AGREED! I'm the happiest I've ever been in my life, and I'm overweight and broke LOL.
But I have the most supportive, most caring, sincere man in my life I have ever met. We find little things to do for free, and we cherish all of our time together.

Every Sunday evening him and I go on a little cruise, and usually get kiddie ice creams. To some that is stupid, but we love it. This past Sunday we included 2 other couples and it was great.

We have our favorite shows we watch together, his favorite video games that I watch sometimes, he plays in the garage w/ the boys and I make sure they're fed/watered(lol sounds like pets), he supports my love of animals...so much more that we do.

I've found us being closer than ever, w/o spending hardly any money at all. Any time money is an issue...which isn't often, we insist upon sitting down w/ our accounts open online and figuring it out.

ANYHOW..............................
From what you've said, your wife and you are very aware of each other's feelings and stress. Money is a definite ruiner, but it sounds like you trust each other and are determined to make it work.

This thread makes me proud of CC. This is what the old CC is like, and I'm glad to see it's still alive.

So, I thought I would update since I just got some really good news...

The buyer made a deposit on the engine ^_^ Sooooo although we (my wife and I) have decided that the cable bill got "too far gone" we should at least be "caught up" on all of the NECESSITIES and, the "bunny ears" will have to suffice, along with weekly trips to the library, and when we really wanna go crazy and splurge, red box for date night ;)

Any who, things are looking up :D

Google free redbox promo codes, and enjoy.
You can also sign up for them for free. I get 3 free rentals a month via text/email, and I also look up different promo codes.

:hugs:

Really!? That's awesome :D

Becca: "Who hugged you?"
Me: "Puma"
Becca: "like Timon and Pumba?"
Me: "No, like the shoe, or the cat"
Becca: "Oh, ok."

Like any of it mattered, she was just bein silly

Yea, we have a good time together, happy as can be, just get stressed out from time to time, as I'm sure everyone does.

I'm not one of those "Money can't buy happiness" people, because my comeback for that age old line is always "Nope, but it can sure rent it"

I dunno, it's just with everything I've been through in the last 10 years, I was starting to lose hope that I'd ever be "comfortable" again. I went from being the lead tech at my shop in TN, to nursing a broken neck instantly. $100k+ a year, to eating away every penny of my 401k retirement, losing all my stocks, living in my car, etc.

Then I land a job at the local hometown Honda dealer, in detail :/ "whatever, it's a step in the right direction" did that for 7 months, "demanded" to turn wrenches, left on a mutual agreement that they'd re-hire me as soon as a bay opened up...

WORKED AT SONIC DRIVE-IN as an assistant manager until the service manager called me back.

Worked at the Honda dealer as a tech, we had our son, and I got let go new years eve, due to "downsizing" nothing personal, I was just the lowest guy on the totem pole so to speak.

I've been doing side work since then and have yet to find a "real job" BUT, that's hopefully gonna change tomorrow ;)

I know that's a lot of back story, but I wanted y'all to see why something as trivial as losing my cable was such a blow to my ego, it was the last little thing I had left, so at the time of the original post, I "had blinders on" and couldn't see the big picture;

I have a roof over my head, a healthy son, an amazing wife, and NOW a renewed, positive outlook.

Eff cable LOL

@Darth_Civic, no, the hatch can not be sold, long story. But I have an "extra" D15B7 that I was going to build to replace the one in the coupe, but I got an offer I couldn't refuse to rebuild the one IN the coupe so, I required a deposit to cover the build costs, and should be making delivery Friday. If he decides to flake, then I guess I have an engine to put in the coupe, but, I have a good feeling, he's bought stuff from me before so I'm not too worried about it.

I'm the same way with money. It may not buy happiness, but enough of it keeps bills paid and stress down.

I'm glad you're a bit happier!!

I already am lol I thought I was gonna have to get a converter box or whatever all that hubub was a few years ago, turns out I didn't need one. Ironically enough, I get more channels (that I'll actually watch) with a pain jane philips antenna than I did with the powered one I originally tried =) the powered one picked up more, but not much that I'd watch.

Alright guys, and gals, both of you lol

I'm up early (honestly, didn't sleep :/ but whatever)
Showered, Shaved, picked out some presentable clothes (I was actually surprised when I found a polo and jeans that didn't have some sort of grease stain lol)
About to have me a big ol bowl of rasin bran (What? I'm "old" and it helps settle my stomach when I'm anxious)
And I'm gonna be the first one through the door at the JPO.

As much as I'd like to walk out of there with a guaranteed job today, I'm gonna be realistic. Other than the Navy, I've had a wrench in my hand my whole life, I'm probably gonna need some kind of training, and I'm more than open to the idea. As good as I am with a wrench, I love love love to tinker, and, there was a point in my career that I started to hate it, I neglected my own vehicle, and it got to the point that I didn't look forward to rolling up the doors every morning.

In a perfect world, I would make just as good of money as I used to, without hating it.

But, like my father used to say; "If the world were perfect, a bullfrog would have wings so he didn't bump his ass every time he hopped" (yea, he actually said crazy s**t like that, one of the few things I'll miss about not having cable is "Lizard Lick Towing" that guy reminds me sooo much of my dad. Just the stuff he says though, he didn't look anything like him lol)

Anywho, I'm gonna go eat and watch the news, the office opens at 8, I'll let y'all know how it goes ;)

Thanks everyone, it went pretty good. Nothing promising, but I did get help updating my resume and making it "more appealing" got a few "apply in person" leads, gonna follow up on those tomorrow or friday, depends on the wifes schedule.

Another positive note, I did a lil sidejob today, again, nothing significant but it put a few bucks in my pocket =)

I was also advised against a "total career change" so I updated my profile to look for service advisor jobs, with the hopes of eventually becoming a service manager somewhere. I told the lady at the JPA that I was wiling to do anything, and she said she understood, but, with their help and my new profile and resume, that I SHOULD be working "soon"

What a relative term :/

It is what it is. All I can do now is keep looking, and hoping that my fancy new resume catches someones eye.

Thanks again to all of you, have a great night =)

Woohoo!

Question though. What is the JPA?
Also, if you want a 2nd opinion about that resume, shoot me it. I should have your numbers crunched tomorrow too. It was was insane today; I had zero chance to even touch them. :/
