a d16y7 should be a obd2a but dont take my word for it . i would throw a scanner in and see what you getok i have a 99 civic with a d16y7, and have a 91 teggy with a b18b ls and wanting to swap the LS in my civic, so my question is, how do i know if my civic is an obd2a or obd2b?
no, which obd2 you are is determined by model year, unless you swap in a different engine harnessa d16y7 should be a obd2a but dont take my word for it . i would throw a scanner in and see what you get
i was just referring to the stock model.no, which obd2 you are is determined by model year, unless you swap in a different engine harness
99/00 are obd2b.
doesnt matter what model it is, all 99/00 are obd2a. 96-98 are obd2ai was just referring to the stock model.
motor is irrelevant. the only difference really is the three plugs that go into the ecu at the end of the engine harness.ok so i have an obd2b since its the original motor
This is your correct answer. 96-98 are OBD2a, 99-00 are OBD2b.no, which obd2 you are is determined by model year, unless you swap in a different engine harness
99/00 are obd2b.
I don't know about California specifically but where I live (and I believe most places) you wouldn't have to swap the motor out, but you'd have to swap ECUs and then deal with whatever CELs come up individually by wiring some type of workaround. I know it's possible but it's not an easy task IMO. I have a 97 with an OBD1 D15 in it that I got for free as a temporary solution. It won't pass emissions.i no EJ i live in oklahoma and dont have any emission laws, now if i was to say move to cali, is there a way to pass it with an obd1 motor?? or would i have to go through the process of swapping the obd1 motor out for an obd2a or obd2b?
you have been here long enough to learn to use the search function and google. its not rocket sciences*** thought my shift linkage would work that i have on my civic lol
but EJ you able to send me a link to no what i need to get to do the swap, since i no someone on the site has done an LS swap
