Come on 5th gen owners! I know yall are doing more to your rides than whats just being posted up :P or is every one just broke
Broke, son. Actually, got to get the crank pulley off so we can change the belt and head gasket. My impact gun didn't budge it, so need to borrow from my pop. He's got an awesome titanium impact gun that works wonders (he's a mechanic by trade, so has some great tools). That's what we ended up using LAST time we changed the timing belt. Too bad the older civics didn't have the hex opening on the crank pulley like the later models.

Fifth generation (1992–1995) – EK1, EG, EH, EJ1, EJ2

Sixth generation (1996–2000) – EK9, EK4, EK5, EK3, EJ6, EJ7,EJ8, EJ9, EM1

thank you
those are the manufacturer's chassis codes. for example, the VIN for a 92 civic sedan is an EG8.
The EX, LX, SI, etc are the trim levels. EX and SI are usually the highest level, LX is mid level, etc.
IF you look at the top of the screen, go to the "civic specs" section, and it gives a breakdown by model year and trim level, so you can see what engines, options, etc came with each chassis and trim level

thank you jameswanser i really appreciated your message. it will help alot

but what does those codes mean?
for example i managed to get these ones

LX for Luxury/Moderate, EX for Executive (extra)/Loaded...
DX for Deluxe/Basic, Si = Sport Injected, SiR = Sport Injected Racing,
SiR-II = same, SiR-S = Sport Injected Racing Special Edition.

maybe i will get a sir because its the most sport package

and for the models 5 and 6 generations which do you think is the best?

and for the motor/engine those which have Vtec is the best?

for most people, the SI, SI-R, or EX models of the 92-95 are the ones to get. for the 96-00, most people want the SI. It's usually because of the engine and transmission that are offered in those models

Most of those trim models/chassis codes are only in foreign countries. I'm in the US, and the only ones I have to worry about are DX, Lx, EX, and Si.

They pretty much go in that order.

An ex model sixth generation civic is known as an "ej8" you can find it in the Vin of the car. Most of those don't matter unless you're looking for a legit EM1 which is a sixth gen Si. Those are expensive. If you want a d16 you have two chassis to really choose from. The most popular two are fifth and sixth gen EX trim models. I've owned both of them. The fifth gen is lighter, but slower on paper. It comes with the d16z6. The sixth gen is heavier but faster on paper and it comes with the d16y8. I like the interior better on the sixth gen. It's just a newer car. But my fifth gen handled better than my sixth gen.

Today I pulled my ej coupe out of the backyard and into the garage. She is getting a full make over. New OEM front bumper, type r lip kit, d16 5 speed conversion( poly bushing all the way around, short throw shifter, braided steel clutch line, stage 3 clutch, s20 tranny), 3inch exhaust, and more to come. Disc brake conversion?, maybe even turbo kit.
