I was talking to a mechanic about a swap on my 93 coupe and i was quoted 3500 all inclusive professional job. He then said that his brother had a 95 hatch back that he had put a DOHC B series Vtec in. He lowered it and put on a new intake and exhaust. Body is mint. Leather interior. RPM gauge. I cant remember it all. He said he would ask his brother if he would sell it because it was just sitting in a storage locker. I guess he has a few. He just got back to me and he is selling it to me for 3500 bucks. I should have it in my possession soon.

I want to post photos but dont know how. When i click host it it brings up another page that says

I'm seeing another blown up car in your furture as well. Going to boost an all motor built engine that you do not seem to know a whole lot about, yikes.
My honda mechanic thinks its a great idea. Oh yeah hes only been a mechanic most of his life and specializes in imports. Forgot that he does not know what he is talking about.

It's a great idea to boost a B16A...but not with the internal work that is currently done. Exchanging internals for boost friendly pieces first and then slapping on a turbo setup is what should happen. If your mechanic knows what he's talking about, then he'd explain the same to you

Its got the bigger pump and injectors. Its got head studs. He says that its ready to be turbo charged. Nothing was done to the bottom end? Are you talking about what was done top end?

Where do you think sleeves go? You think it made 210hp on stock internals and a shitty DC header?
210hp (I doubt it is whp) on a 1.6 will need extensive portwork, gnarly cams and a lot of compression. None of those are forced induction friendly.

I will talk to him about it. We are meeting tomorrow to go over the car. And if i need a new set of cams and a head so be it.

you shouldn't need a whole new head, just turbo friendly cams. Long duration with big overlap is not so great for boost....and like Blood said, to net 210hp on a b16a, you'd need high compression pistons to help get you there. 200hp on a b16 is actually quite a challenge, well, it takes a lot of modification to get there naturally aspirated, and each of those mods make turbocharging unsafe.

I could be wrong on the hp. Thats what i was told. I havnt seen it on a dyno so i dont know. My mechanic doesnt know everything about the car either. I will talk to the seller as well and see what he did on the bottom end. If i am tearing the engine apart to turbo it this is going to get ridiculous. How friendly is this set up for nos? I am happy witht he way it is and it to bring out to the local clubs but i do one to see better numbers on the quarter mile. Or did I buy a car with the wrong engine? Should I have went bigger?

It just did not add up, your "mad scientist mechanic" tells you it is ready for boost when it clearly is not. Unless you plan on running pure methanol every day, I do not see it. I would also think that since it is/was his brother's car he would know a bit more about the bottom end.

The quarter mile time sounds like crap too, but there are soo many variables with racing..mainly the driver. I don't think you needed to go with a bigger engine, you can make plenty of power with whatever engine as long as you approach it correctly. Just inquire more about all the details of that setup until you find a story that makes sense. Once you do that, go and verify it as well. If you're willing to spend your hard earned money on this, then they should understand that you need legitimate info

Well there is half the battle. Why dont you just take your time to look it over and see what you have. An all motor civic with that much power won't run and drive like a normal civic, cams that would make that much power will thump pretty hard and it probably won't get that great of MPG. How does it run/drive?
