but the owner does not build not even1% of that car, owner doesn't build any percent of that car. A person buys the car and hopes for the best. imo the job of a brand new car owner is to maintain the car and not neglect it. what about recalls? defectiveness from the factory. that is something that the owner will never have control over.

but i do agree with you that reliability does lie with the owner, idk about 99% of it though, cause there is something owner does not have control of.
Well in that case (granted this is only based off one year's statistics)

http://www.statisticbrain.com/automobile-recall-statistics/

I am pretty sure Ford has the most recalls, but don't quote me.

When it comes to maintenance put on the shoulders of the owner I feel it pertains to items of normal wear and tear common to most vehicles. Things like belts, suspension, gaskets, fluid changes, even just keeping the car's interior/exterior/engine bay clean fall under that.

I'm way late to this party, but oh well..

In regards to jobs/payscale. young_, I would urge you to consider that cell tower job. It's an experience you will gain a lot from!
I make around $2100/mo after taxes/benefit deductions as a Network Admin for a very small company that doesn't understand IT. I need to get a REAL IT job, but I don't have a degree (certs out the ass, all expired, though.). I will be going back to college soon, to renew my certs if nothing else. I had a soft offer for a job that paid $65k/yr about 5 months ago, but they hired internally. Bummer. But yeah, future = Director of Technology for me. That's what I want to do.

Now onto cars:
I've driven and worked on several SRT-4's. No offense to anyone on this forum, but in my opinion, they are garbage and built poorly. My best friend was a MOPAR tech for a few years, and vows to absolutely never own one. They are notorious for the transmissions going out (more precisely, 3rd gear effin explodes), because they just modified gear ratios of stock Neon's a bit, and threw the tranny in a car that makes way more power than the tranny can handle. That being said, once they are rebuilt, they are beasts. In the end, they are still Neons, though. Same as my Civic. I can't justify getting crazy with it anymore. In the end, it's an econo-box Civic, not a Ferrari/BMW.

Relaxing as I get ready to go to bed, then work tomorrow. POOP.

The T850 is not the same as the T350. The T850 is based off a euro-turbodiesel engine design. The older T350 were more likely based off the old getrag A555. The 3rd gear issue is the same as any 3rd gear issue in most cars, people beat the ever loving s**t out of them.

That is an untrue statement, the dart is based off a Fiat platform.
Ah ok. good to know.

This is relatively true, although I have to say, I beat the s**t out of my Evo, and that car held up like an absolute champion. In fact, when I took it in for service (the one and ONLY time I got to lol), the Mitsu tech said the transmission looked brand new. I would lock and slam the diff regularly lol.

As Bloodshot said, it is relatively subjective, though. A lot of my friends owned them and hated them, but I had one friend who owned one and loved it. He built the hell out of it. Thing was spinning tires like crazy in third gear. I'd always smoke him cause he couldn't get traction on street tires lol.

Breakfast is the only thing good from Mickey-D's. Anything else is mud-butt.

I like their quarter pounders, but only from a certain McDonald's around here. The rest suck.

Learned how to ride one, eventually I'll get my permit. The bike fell over on me the first day, then the second day I got starting off, shifting up and down, turning, swerving all down =)

correct. more specifically, it is based off of the alfa romeo giulietta platform. it is actually a very good chassis. In exhange, maserati is using the grand cherokee platform, another great chassis, to make a maserati SUV.

congrats on the good work crash! you'll be a pro in no time. Do they offer Basic Rider Courses in WA? Here in Michigan I took a course over an entire weekend and at the end i had my bike license. no permit or anything. you should look into that.

My dad had it for 1 1/2 months then the transmission took a s*** and needed a rebuild so he got rid of it, best decision he made concerning that car.
was it brand new or used when he got it?

Was yours an MR or RS/GSR/SE? Ask how many Evo MR owners(who beat on them) have had issues with their 6 speeds. Again it is all relative, and maybe even not as common as the "3rd gear srt issue". 4gs are no joke, and for what you pay (back when they were new) I would be stupid pissed if my 6spd had an issue.
