Has anyone attempted spraying their own interior vs. sending it out? Good idea? Bad?
The number one rule in paint: your prep work is everything.I did it myself, the supposedly "right" way. It worked but it's not really quality. I would definitely invest and send it out.
I just now realized my coworker is a painter. And he'll do it.

I'm doing my interior myself (have done a few before). It's tedious, but not difficult. Take your time, use the right tools, follow the right steps, and ensure you use a plastic-adhering paint, not rustoleom or some s***.

That's what the boyfriend is for!I suggest when you are pulling the dash that u have an extra person to help pull it out when u get all the bolts and screws out, its not that hard just makes it easier

Well, once I get started on this I WILL TRY MY BEST to take pictures and post up the process. Now that I'm not in a rush to finish anything on this car
All suggestions are welcome from you guys, I'm still undecided on exactly how everything is going to be.
Atta girl. You'll need two people. Me and my roommate got my whole interior apart, headliner stripped, new material applied, and back in the car in 2 hours.That's what the boyfriend is for!
So no ScotchBrite scuff pad? And I'm not spraying it, someone else is. I'm horrible with paintingSEM is insane. Get the Landau Black for a OEM match. It's almost the exact same as the CTR interior. Some tips:
- Wear rubber gloves when prepping.
- Use wax/grease remover. Don't SOAK everything, but use a good amount.
- Make sure parts are completely dry/free of liquid/dirt/debris.
- DO NOT SAND. Nothing should be sanded, period. Ever. Just clean it up with wax/grease remover, use SEM's adhesion promoter, and go to town.
- LIGHT COATS. Don't get cray cray with the paint. Your first coat should be a light dusting, in an even back-and-forth, robotic motion. Each coat should then be applied a little bit heavier. Use about 5 coats for a solid, even color that won't fade. Keep the can about 6 1/2 inches away from your target.
- Do this s*** in a well ventilated area. A garage is preferred. Do it early morning, as to avoid wind, heat, and humidity.
- Avoid runs. The SEM s*** is hard to get runs with, but it can happen. If you DO get runs.. well.. hope the next few coats can help, or hope you have someone that knows how to fix it, cause I never can

its not that bad! i took mine out, modified the heater core, and put it back in and driving in 4 hours....Getting your dash out kinda sucks.
