Today on my lunch break I broke down my gsr front hubs that I'm actually going to use. It went smooth just like p in the v. Easy. I took them down as far as I could. I'll practice taking the ball joint out of my junker hub as soon as I get the tools to take the ball joints out. I'll wait til I get paid though.
I also decided while I had the hubs out and apart that I would also replace the wheel studs with ARP hardware. Not the extended ones because it would look stupid, but I just don't want to go with almost 20 year old wheel studs. They should be here within a day or two.
Here's what I figured out for removing the wheel studs. lol

The knuckles torn down as far as I can get them for now.

What are you using to press in the bearing and ball joint, besides the splitter? The right tools make all the difference in these types of jobs.
I'll rig something up for the wheel bearings. I have the old bearing to use as a die, and pressing in the hub shouldn't be a problem with everything being lubed and clean new parts should make for a smooth install. As for the lug nuts they should be cake with just the sockets and press. The hub might be slightly hairy but from what I've seen with people and hammers and theirs working, I'm sure my improvised press tools in a controlled environment, mine should work too.

Today I got one of my sets of my arp wheel studs in the mail today. The other 3 sets are on their way from Ohio. I'll install these tomorrow. I also have several other things on the table. I'm disassembling my mirrors for paint and getting things ready slowly until I get more parts in. The suspension is on deck because I need it on and aligned before I can drive it. Here's a pic of the arp wheel studs I got in the mail today.

Today I did a little more to my car. It turns out putting wheel studs in takes very little time. I got all of them for this hub installed in less than 5 minutes. I wished I had the other sets with me but they were at home when I arrived. The rears probably won't be done until January because of all this Christmas s**t lol. I intend to get all the hubs ready before I buy the shocks and springs/ camber kit. That way all I have to do is bolt it all together and get it aligned. Next week I'm going to buy the tool for installing the lower ball joints and do those also. I now have 3 more sets of ARP wheel studs in the waiting, and tomorrow I'll have another spindle prepped to be pressed into the bearing. Maybe something I ordered will be in tomorrow.

These studs sure are sexy and far more dense feeling than the factory studs.

This weekend wasn't intense in the way of progress, but it wasn't too terrible either. I got my mirrors torn apart, got my side moldings scuffed, and primed the rock chips and scratches in the mirror shells and bases. I spent most of my time working on my friends CTR wheels. I had stripped and painted them with my spare time at work. Here's the progress with some pics. Next week there will be some suspension progress and parts coming together. Christmas is killing me lol.

I got some parts in the mail that I have been waiting on for some time. They are about 4-5 days late but I can imagine with the holidays that is normal. I got new Oem wheel bearings, lower ball joints, brake pads, a new hood cable( solely because it was $12 lol), and some random clips and bolts. I also got a good deal on a jdm eg9 flush mount spoiler. I paid $250 shipped for it. It should be in good condition because it's who I bought my eg6 1 piece spoiler from. I'll be happy to have another nice piece for the car. Here are some pics of my Majestic order.

I have a question: do the new wheel studs use the same torque spec as the originals for the lug nuts?

Today I got a good bit done to the suspension. I started out the day renting a ball joint set from advance. I thought I wanted to buy one but I figured I'd borrow it to see if I liked it first. I asked the lady at the counter for the Honda/Acura specific ball joint attachment that I'd seen there before, but she said she didn't know what I was talking about and I just got the big set and thought it might have it in there. Surprise, it was useless and none of the sleeves were of any use for getting the ball joints out or in. So in the end it was a snap-on socket and dead blow hammer. Beat the old ones out, beat the new ones in. Simple pimple. Not elegant but it worked.
The wheel bearings were a little more delicate operation. They are expensive so I took it easy on them. I used some of the sockets and sleeves from the ball joint set for pressing sleeves. That is all the set was good for. I pressed them in no problem and go the snap rings back in. I had the spindles in one of the freezers at work since last week so they would be nice and small so they'd press in easier. Once I got the spindles back in I was done minus taking back the crummy ball joint service set. Here's my front knuckles assembled with a dude from work pointing out the goods.

Today I got a rare piece around these parts. It's an eg9 flush mount spoiler and it's in good shape structurally but it's just scratched up. Usually they are cracked, the studs are broken, or the wiring isn't there or the studs are so rusted that they will soon break. This is everything I wanted and I got it for a good price too. Here it is in all of it's "glory" lol.

The spoiler will look something like this on the car.

Well this is the original Honda one. I've seen that wings west makes a replica of this for eg and ek coupes. I think it looks good on the em1 also.

Today I had a pretty good experience with my car. It usually never goes smoothly but today I got a break. I stuck some tape down on the deck lid and lined up the spoiler, then pressed it down so it made some impressions in the tape. I looked underneath to make sure that the outer holes were within the factory indents in the frame. There is a center mounting hole in this spoiler. I lined it up the same way and bingo, it all worked fine. The "best" part was cutting the hole in the top of my deck lid or a grommet for the wiring to enter the trunk. I approached it timidly. I drilled a hole and used my dremmel to cut the rest out, test fitting it intermittently until it fit snugly. Then I finally got to bolt it up. The wiring was pretty simple. I just had to splice it into the existing brake light signal.
Other than that I just installed my new hood cable assembly, clips and new hood latch. No pics of that because they are pretty ho hum pieces. The spoiler will be naked and primed soon enough.

Holes drilled and grommet installed.

Installed and looking good

Looking real good from the back. She'll look way better when all the emblems are all installed.
