Suggestions & advice on turbo kits for 96 honda d16y8

Rods bend because of the rod bearings failing. Bearings fail generally because of heat (and also hydrolocking). That heat can build up for many reasons, such as metal shavings or even just dirt in there. Over time the bearings can form a raised spot caused by dirt/debris, which can hit the crank...

    Seeking advice on mechanic's recommendation

My buddy destroyed a ball joint on the highway a couple month ago... he got lucky he didn't fly out of control.. So OP, yes, if your ball joints are bad, replace them!

It's not all about HP though. It's easier to get a little more torque out of B-series motors too. My B18B saw 249whp/210tq @9.5lbs, with a sticky injector. Never really pushed it too hard though. I had fun with it, but wasn't bouncing off the rev limiiter at every shift. 250whp is DEFINITELY...

    Wanting more backfire

You'd be correct. I saw it in person earlier this year, though it was sitting in the corner of their shop.

 And make sense. There's a Evo near me here that's stupid fast. Before he gave the car to his girlfriend, it was running mid 8's. Hearing that thing rev was incredible, and it actually was a flamethrower lol. His new evo ran 8.094 last week. World record Evo now...

Just a long-time friend. The one that I'm trying to get out of the friend zone with haha. Tinder girls have been generous lately though, 3 numbers in 2 weeks, and I didn't ask for any of them, they just offered :thumbs up Been talking to one of them for a while though; we have a bet on the...

You can build a reliable boosted D-series even with stock internals, but, from personal experience and being your same shoes a few years ago, I always wanted even more power. I ended up swapping to a B-series motor and then boosting that. B-series motors generally handle boost better. I made...

    P0420 CEL Code

A dirty air filter really will just give you shitty gas mileage, unless it's so dirty that it's actually clogged and starving the system of air. A bad o2 sensor can cause the CEL as well as a gas smell as it can mess with the proper A/F ratio. Borrow a sensor from a buddy or something if you...

Prepping to drive home to Massachusetts tomorrow. Only thing that separates me from home right now is 4 hours, 260 miles, and a 10-16" snow storm.

    P0420 CEL Code

It's possible that if your system was running super rich you may have killed an o2 sensor. In converse, a bad o2 sensor can cause your engine to run rich as well. If your air filter is dirty or clogged, it can cause your system to run rich. Also any leaks from the manifold can cause this too...
