i finally got a gallon of finishing resin and put it to good use, i quickly began glassing the wrapped panel i created for the light i plan to put in the very rear of my trunk, and i created a beauty plate wich will serve as the foundation for the rest of my madness, the idea im working on is to create enclosures on top of my existing one, creating a wall of enclosure that will separate, in order to do this i created my mold of the top of my enclosure and cut into three pieces for three separate enclosures, thats the plan and i have a lot of work to do to make it come together, youll notice some minor changes to the paneling i created on the sides of the enclosure, i butchered the s**t out of them with a reciprocating saw, it was fun, i did this because im stepping away from the rack above the speaker and im moving in a more complex direction and i didnt like how the trunk flowed from front to rear, which is why ive decided to change the case i made and open up all the space between the enclosure and trunk opening, plus im doing all this work and no one will see any of it hidden behind flat panels

just did a lil bit more glassing i got the gasket lip molded and trimmed so the trunk will close and i took a mold of the tire in the well so i can begin to frame and create my access panel, this was my original idea but i thought it would be too difficult now i dont really care how elaborate i go because its too late now, i also strengthened the two pieces of my beauty plate using nylon rope and woven matting. next to do will be the panels along side of the enclosure so that i can utilize as much space as possible for the upper enclosures and rings for the upper enclosure pretty soon ill be out of resin and out of cash flow, for now i have enough materials for the shell of the upper enclosures and the spare tire access lid ill keep this thread going until i have completed this project, some of you may be wondering why ive done some of the things i have, a lot of my ideas ive changed even since i started this thread, but i can see the finished product in my head and i know that it will be one of a kind and thats all that really matters. keep on posting your comments and if anyone has anything constructive to add please feel free although i can see the light at the end of the tunnel im sure ill run into some unforeseen bumps along the way

so i have the next three days off and am going to take advantage of the spare time and make the storage on the sides of my trunk happen once this work is done i can focus on fabricating the enclosures for the 10 inch woofers going above my existing enclosure this first pic is something i threw together in ms paint to get a look at the changes that are going to take place

this is another modified pic to visualize the fiberglass work that needs to be done to create the portion of the new enclosures that will be contoured to the tirewell and strut tower

the next two pics are showing the modification i made to the side panels i created, there is so much space to utilize i had to change them the pieces that ive cut out will pivot on a hinging dowel and stand in the upright position to hold the upper panel up

the next two pictures shows the template ive created to make the drawer bottoms that will be going above this storage case, and if you're noticing that the cases look familiar its because i cut the old panel that went across the width of the storage area into two pieces , now all i have to do is join all the pieces ive modified and create the drawers, to finish the fascia ill be using more of the 1/4 inch mdf and using this same wood to create the drawer bottoms

sorry these pics are blurry they were taken by my blackberry, like most of the pics taken in this project, the pics below are descent shots of all the panels "in action" i saved the contoured edges of the old panels so i can still tuck as tight as possible to the rear of the trunk

these are pictures of what ive been working towards over the past few days. the side panels are almost done and the drawers are almost completed all i have to do is create sides for them and a back, ill probably end up using fiberglass to get them finished and operational, so close yet so far away, fiberglass, sanding, body filler and a decision towards presentation of the lower portion of the side panels(panel fascia or open) then i can focus on the upper enclosures, and then ill have a dry fit of all the pieces in my trunk. trimming the lip of the trunk and painting the pieces that are going to be painted, and wrapping the flat panels in vinyl will be last along with components
