i can't wait either. well i can and i can't. i'm going to miss having a project once i finish so i might just keep working on it every year and make it better and better. one major thing each year. this year - restore, next - turbo, after - ? who knows.

anyway, update! finally gave it a test start.... NO IDLE BOUNCE!! hooray it idles like normal again. found out my buddy used my garage and couldn't push the del sol back in (there is an incline going towards the garage door) so he took it for a rip around the block (with no hood, or doors and the rear lip hanging half on half off). said it felt pretty peppy (no turbo yet just stock).

finished applying bondo to all dents. will sand the bondo tonight as well as the rest of the surface rust. then after that i have to wait for my buddies help before i can start painting, so i will start putting the rest of the interior back together. install stereo, carpet, seats etc.

got two quotes from shops here for a gallon of white primer. one shop said $96.77 the other said $350.55 so i think the second one was on crack.. so next paycheck i'll buy some primer.
depends on the primer really... i suggest a name brand 2k urethane primer.

you know why that car felt peppy? you took of about 1/4 the total weight off the car, power to weight my friend. i am betting the top was off too? probably not the best thing to do as it will flex the body, just a heads up.

haha thats exactly what i told him when he told me it was peppy. i said theres no weight there. everythings off.

urethane primer you say? alright thanks. i'll go buy some soon.

so last night broke the sander. luckily its mastercraft so i'll go back to the store and exchange it for a new one. so i spent the rest of the night hand sanding everything. think its pretty much ready for primer. after i get the new sander i need to go over the entire car top to bottom slowly again and it should be good. sorry forgot to take car pics.

i also removed the valve cover and put on some aircraft stripper and started painting that. i do have pics of that.

well my brother asked me if he could borrow the del sol for his grad.. which is june 24.. i want to say yes and just leave it in primer for grad. it'll look better then just sanded.. hopefully i can manage that. so there is a little push. still haven't decided the final color yet however. thinking white, teal or respray samba green. leaning towards white tho

doesn't really matter if i decide or not right now. the way the budget is looking it won't be more then restored stock for another year. budget looks super shaky for the last year of college.

on another note, picked up my Starks last night. came with brand new bridgestone playz rubber

i can't respray with paint until after i graduate college (only one more year, grad is in may 11 months from now) so i'll be leaving it in white primer until then. but after that i'm kinda digging the samba green..

check out the new rims. looks a lot better then those steelies.

nice del sol, like the progress, now heres one thing ive never seen a white del sol in person so i think thatd be pretty cool. or go with the sk2 gunmetal gray color. anyways loving the build and is starting to make me want to build one. also ive had that idle problem before too. ive found 2 solutions. floor it to over 100 (worked), idle came back though but when it came back it was because i installed my tach and fogs. so its been doing it for a while then i removed fogs and it doesnt do it anymore. so i think its an electrical thing.

well i took the car for 3 rips today. i got a video too i'll try to upload later..

think i've decided i'm going to stay with samba green. keep it OEM and that way nothing looks too bad like trunk or engine bay or anything.

turns out my speedometer doesn't work. efffffffff. but its fun to drive =) =)

my fix was the FITV

I hope this helps you guys out. This is from my 1995 Honda Civic Si (EH3) D16Z6. The Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) is mounted on the Transmission Housing. If you look between the intake and the Distributor, you should be able to see it under a vast array of wire looms and hoses.

This is what it looks like.

Oh yeah, if you're not throwing a CEL (Code 17: Vehicle Speed Sensor), try checking the wiring from the PCM/ECU to the Speedometer. If I remember correctly, the wires run behind the dash from the PCM/ECU (whatever you want to call it) to the Speedo.

thanks for the diagram. i'll look into that tonight after work. there isn't a code coming up so it could be just disconnected from the dash maybe? or a wire along the way isn't connected. tach works fine along with all the other gauges. just not the speedo.
