Ok, I've been thinking about my options for engines, and was wondering about a boosted D16Z6. Now, I know very little about brands and what's good and bad and whatnot......

Is the Z6 a good engine to be turboed, or should I do a mini-me?

So, what would be the best kit/parts that would make up a kit for the best response, spooling, and horsepower gains for under $2000? Anyways, let me know your oppinions.

i would go with the greddy kit for your generation.... unless your smart and have time on your hands go custom turbo thats the best way to go and not to mention its the cheapest...besides the point, i love your hatch back i wish i had one

Is this a repost...? anyway, I have the greddy kit, had it for 5 years actualy. Very nice reliable kit, quick response and huge difference compared to stock. If you want best bang for buck, get the greddy, but this setup will only be good around 15psi, 250 to 300 hp...I forget which one. This is why Im steppin up to the T3/T4 setup, its time I wanna move on to a bigger turbo and get a little more serious...

thanks for adding to the convo asshat.

Eran...

Start reading turbod16.com. My advice is...

CheapTurbo.com
-- get their starter kit #2.. get a .50 trim T304e with the 38mm wastegate.. $779
-- get the peak boost bov -- $119.00

JohnnyRaceCar.com
-- get the 6inch intercooler.. $240

JCWhitney.com
-- get the 3" mandrel bent piping that you will need.. (need to measure out the bends etc)
-- $129 for BBK fuel pump

Need to pick up:

450 cc injectors (dsmtrader.com, or junkyard)
VAFC
Gauges

Then take all that stuff into a shop that'll install it for you.

they cost twice as much as s**t you could put together y ourself. you can more power, better parts, and a more complete system for 2 grand than you could with a greddy kit for 2500...(notice system....then notcie KIT)

once I get my d15b vtec swaped in I plan to do a custom turbo. there's a guy in town that owns a turbo shop in his garage! he knows his stuff. So I'm going to go to him when I'm ready to boost and he'll help me build the perfect setup.

Im just assuing here. Since you are swapping a d15, it seems to me that you dont care for peak hp, just something to get you around town. Id suggest a t25 or a 14b, they spool so quick that ther is virtually no lag. next obvious things would be hondata, Mx-6 or a ford probe ic are GREAT, some dsm 440's, and a log mani and youll be set.
