I'm not too worried. I wouldn't have spent the kind of money i have if i didn't trust him. What would i do if something went wrong while i was there anyway? Granted, i would have liked to have been there when it was started, just to hear it, but i'll hear it soon enough.

I am f**king ecstatic. This project is going on almost a year now. I thought this setup and ordered my suspension parts a full year ago now. I don't know what i'm going to do when it's finally done.

I don't have a camera, but i'm going to try and find one for the dyno. If i can't get a video, or get to the dyno (work ) i'll definitely find a camera for some track and street vids.

Drive it, drive it hard

What rear end and body work do you plan on having done?

Rear end is getting a 31 spline posi and some 31 spline axles. I'll have the torque boxes welded up while they're back there as well.

I've got a set of 03 cobra side skirts and mirrors that i need painted and i'm thinking about picking up an 03 cobra hood. There's one in town for really cheap. There's a few paint chips that i'd like to get fixed as well. And depending on cost, there's a few issues in the engine bay i'd like to take care of. There's a cutout from the old turbo setup that looks like crap. I'd like to have that filled and painted.

Sounds good. Glad to hear that youre doing things the right way.
I wish I could do something this extensive to my Camaro, I just dont have the funds. Im going to most likely end up purchasing a wrecked Z28 and just swapping everything out.

Stopped by the tuners to get a base tune so the car will do more than idle. Setup a time as well.

I'll be getting tuned on the 14th. There's still a few more things that need to be finished up, but it looks like we'll be good to go by then.

I'm nervous now. Just hoping that nothing goes wrong. I've got too much money in this motor for it to blow up on the dyno.

They pulled the housing on the cold side to polish it up. I'm going to have to call tomorrow morning to tell them not too. It matches the valve covers the way it is and it would be just too much polish.

I was thinking about that. Sucks i can't go to a bigger radiator either. Fan would hit the turbo, so anything i can do to keep temps down is going to be a major plus.

Haven't found one yet, but i'm still looking.

Dude I am so anxious to see what kind of numbers this thing puts down.

Just about as anxious as I am to get my Camaro back on the road and in good condition

Crazy day today.

Wideband and the new motor mounts came in today. Did some looking online and found out about a rather major problem. Apparently the aluminum and iron blocks use different bolts to mount the motor mounts to the engine block. Both are the same diameter and thread, but one is almost 10mm longer than the other.

There is very little talk of this anywhere and a few people have actually broken the aluminum block at the motor mounts by using the shorter bolts for the iron block.

Now we've got to change out the bolts before we go to the dyno (which is some major work that we didn't expect to be doing until after the dyno). So i've been busy running around trying to find the right size bolts and to make sure that the information i was given was actually correct.

Anyways, when i dropped everything off i got to drive the car for a bit. Mostly just around the parking lot, but it's awesome that i can drive it again.

Still planning on getting to the dyno on wednesday. Hopefully we don't have to push it back.

Long lost update ...

Made it to the dyno on time, but barely. Made 556rwhp with a slightly conservative tune. I'm hoping that we'll make 600 on pump gas when we go back in a couple weeks.

So i've finally made it 500 miles since the tune. Planning on a new dyno tune soon. I'm actually getting impatient.

But, i have discovered a few things that need to be addressed first, so the car is back at the shop. I've got a couple small oil leaks and a small transmission leak. The new coolant reservoir isn't going to pass tech at the track so that is going to need to be fixed. The intake piping won't let me run the passenger side foglight, we're going to have to do something about that. My oil pressure gauge is also not working. It will sometimes read 0-10psi oil pressure. It seems to be off 30-40 psi at times. It's weird. And then we've got the small clean-up issues. A few wires and hoses that need to be moved to clean up the engine bay. I'm hoping this is all going to get taken care of in the next 2 weeks. Then it'll be a week or so to get back on the dyno. Hoping to be back on the dyno by the end of the month.

Anyways, here's a pic of the engine bay now that it's 99% finished.

On the oil pressure gauge, it f**king scared the s**t out of me when i saw the thing drop to 10psi and then start swinging between 0-10 psi. Immediately shut the car down. Stock gauge was reading fine and when it started back up it was reading good. Finally got a mechanical gauge hooked up and it was definitely the gauge.

It's on it's way back to autometer now. They think it might be the wiring, but they are going to check the sender and the gauge anyway, just in case.

I really wish i could have gone with Defi for the gauges. Granted the autometer phantom II's don't look bad, the defi's look f**king awesome.

I'll be sending an email off to defi on monday letting them know they would have a market (me at the least ) if they made some 2 1/16" gauges in english units.
