so what do you all suggest? i am thinking of putting in a carputer (car pc). i've bought half of the componenets, need to buy a touch screen based on the space available.

i would love to do exactly what your doing.. but have hit the same road block... the only way id recomend it is if you can find someone local parting out a 99-00... thats the only b***h with 96-98.. 99-00 got such a nicer console.... lol

yeah.. you need a lot of s**t.. maybe someone can give you the details.. its a pretty big job.. but SICK when (if.. lol) you finish it..

what about fabricating a box for it right underneath the temperature guages and infront of the gear box?

or, i could fabricating a custom box which sits on top of the ddash..

or maybe a pop up one. do you want me to photoshop so that you get the idea?

ANY of that would be hot if it was doen PERFECTLY

but again it would have to match the interior PERFECTLY or it would be ruined IMHO..

in reality as hard as it is to swap to a 99-00 interior.. it might be easier than makign a box, because at least if you go to 99-00 you KNOW it will be perfect.. you know?

well its not just the look in his case.. he needs the double din that the 99-00 offers for the screen..

too much work JUST to have the look.. yes i agree..

but not if you intend to use that space for something else...

yeah man, i hear you. i like that set up... that is what i am thinking but with a 98, you know how the dash is "streight" from the odometer curve to the passenger's air bag. that would be a good place but the prob would be that it would look clumsy sitting up there. i want it to look nice, not a like a half ass job. you know what i mean?

i know EXACTLY what you mean.. if it were me.. and it might be one day... as ive given a ton of thought to having a similar car computer... i woudl just do the 99-00

if you plan on keeping the car for a long time just do it right and go to the 99-00 consol.. pain but worth it IMHO

losing temp control function on a daily driver is silly IMHO

99-00 for the win in your case.. that WILL look the best.. no question..
