D16Y7 Turbo?

=) I have read people who turbo their y7s using a greddy kit, what have you heard?

I've also heard that there is a way to bypass the manifold in order to keep the A/C with the turbo. (Such as custom things etc..)

Just things to have cleared up.

Never heard of losing the ac with a homemade turbo. Course then people usually get rid of the ac for more hp.

GReddy kit owns the d16, the kit is so cheap....its like 1G, why wouldnt you turbo your sohc for that much?

and loccusst, where did you hear anything about homemade kit?

and you dont have to lose s**t if you turbo your car

1g for a greddy kit...sorry guys, thats not gonna happen. you wont lose ac with the greddy kit. and this thing where you said "bypass the manifold" what the f**k are you talking about? im against the greddy kit...unless ofcourse its a trust single turbo conversion for a 2jz....

For everything, the kit should cost you about $2k minimum. You should be able to achieve about 170hp on low boost and still keep your A/C. It's a good deal, GReddy plays it safe.

1) why are you against GReddy kits?
2) www.city-speed.com They have the sohc kits for a little over 1G, maybe like 1,500 whatever still f**king cheap
and
3) Turbonetics suck, have heard nothing but bad things. Always unbalanced, my mechanic has had to send back 3 or 4, and does not deal with them anymore...I think I know one guy that has had a turbonetics turbo and liked it with no problems - it also happens to be on a 10 sec, b20 hatch

some guy on another fourm was talking about intercoolers getting in the way of his A/C compressor on Turbos.

that guy is dumb. im against greddy cuz their blue box sucks d**k. the upgradability of it sucks. id rather make my own system than get a greddy. ill make more, better, just as reliable power than the greddy.

the GReddy kit is perf for just a bolt on turbo kit. People always knock the blue box but they dont realize that the blue box is excellent as long as you run the kit in its 'out of box' state. Once you start to upgrade the kit and run higher boost, you need to upgrade EVERYTHING....engine management, injectors, and so forth. I've never heard anything about losing A/C and as far as bypassing a manifold, you should slap whoever told you that

The greddy kit sucks and i know from expericience of haveing a friend with the greddy kit and it was a dog, it didnt pull for s**t the turbo was so small it gave him little or no top end power. Put your own kit together for cheaper and more power.
