What seems to go wrong with these kits? I know the phrase you get what you pay for but i want some examples of stuff that goes wrong with the kits. Im not talkin about the kits that are like 500 bucks im talkin about the kits that are close to 1k. They seem to be somewhat solid. If the seller has a lot of points and good feedback would any of you buy one?

turbos are notorious for blowing oil seals, even with restrictors. mine lasted about 2 years before it went, but IMO its just not worth the risk...

ive heard of the charge pipes not fitting correctly like they should...

all the cheap-o no name turbos on ebay are made by the same taiwanese company, INCLUDING XSpower. the ones you see going for $140 are the same ones XSpower sells for $300...

refer to above reply ;)

yes i run a knockoff WG, and they work perfectly fine. i ran an XSpower on my last setup and didnt have a singe problem. i will be running a different no-name on this one(same as XSpower) due to the fact that it was about $50 cheaper than the XS one. they work great, they are cheap, no complaints. i do suggest that you disassemble it when you get it to inspect and make sure everything is kosher, and that the diaphram isnt ripped.

FYI - the 405hp Vitara Civic is running a knockoff WG and it holds boost just fine

they do use the same springs. i have an XS power wastegate. and we test fitted it with thier manifold to a 91 hatch and the hoood wouldnt close. the wastegate is a bit tall. the hood would close if i knocked a hole in the support beam....and Aliasneo i believe used thier mani and wastegate on his 6th gen sedan.

a lot of that kit is actually pretty good. although i would scour the forums to find a used Garrett t3/t4 hybrid instead of that Chinese one

i managed to pick up a Garrett t3/t4 .48/.60 54 trim for $300 shipped from a member on d-series.org

I personally dont see anything wrong with those kits...especcially now that im seeing more and more cast manifolds.....I do remember people complaining about the tubular manifolds, they could leak or a weld would crack....but for all that it is...its not a bad set up and had me thinking of boosting for a while. pipes are pipes...they arent too expensive and you can get them bent at a muffler shop or even home depot...maynot be mandrel bent but, still bent.
