I used cx racing. But I agree it's pretty hit or miss.

It comes down to how comfortable you are at risking it, I guess.
^ Best post in the thread IMO. eBay stuff CAN be good, it can also be terrible. It's risky. For advice, stay away from stainless steel manifolds, and get a GOOD tune. I suggest getting it professionally tuned, this way if they blow it up while tuning it it's under them. Every reputable tuner will check the car over to make sure it's sufficient before tuning anyways.

In short, if you build it right the first time, you won't have to worry about iffy parts failing; as you'll be happier (and have more money) in the end.

Do yourself a favor: do NOT buy an eBay turbo kit. $600 to boost your car is not sufficient. These kits are manufactured using shoddy materials, overseas, by companies that don't care about their products or the quality. They WILL fail. I had to run a cheap manifold for a while (clearance issues on my original manifold, needed a new one stat), and after less than a month, the wastegate flange fell off, along with my wastegate. I was in full boost at the time. Absolutely ruined my tune/fuel mileage, and I had to do a valve adjustment (mainly, that was just me being anal with my car lol).
On a friend's turbo Del Sol, his s***ty eBay knockoff wastegate failed, and he'd get boost creep/spike from 10psi to friggin 25psi. After only two days of driving like that, the turbo was spiking to 22-25psi regularly. Eventually, the turbo gave out (after maybe 2 months). Upon inspection, it had coked horribly bad, the main shaft was horribly loose and wobbly, and the housing itself was starting to warp.

TL;DR: They are s***. Don't. Just don't.
I had a ebay set up it worked never failed. I made sure my oil feed and the turbo had oil before i stared the car and ran low boost till it broke in never had any problem with the wastegate falling off. Another thing your telling me you ran 22-25 psi on a ebay turbo and hit that on a regular basics and it failed well all the ones i see are maxed at 30psi so i would say the 25psi is what made it blow. One thing I can tell you is dont use the cheap ebay oil feed flange that comes with it i bought a aftermarket one that allowed more oil flow to the turbo.

True cast iron is the way to go with ebay. All i have to say is $600 for a ebay turbo kit is way better than $600 just for the turbo imo. But really if you want to go cheap and have a good turbo get a 14b off a eclipse run ebay piping you can pick them up for $100 where im at then get ur piping off ebay ect...

Pay to play. Warranties on higher price turbo. I put ebay turbos like motorcycles. They are eventually going to crash just a matter of when

This whole thread proves the point why not to buy them... the reliability isn't there. Some have good experiences, some have bad experiences. I don't want to risk my build on a coin flip, how about you?

I'd rather buy a turbo with an engine guarantee ( like my garrett) for a few hundred bucks more than a kit and have my engine build safe than risk it. Now to counter that the piping and intercooler are "ebay" not top of the line, but it works.. but no vital engine parts will go boom if I foul a pipe/coupler or punch a hole in my intercooler.

Intercooler, charge piping, and even catch can from eBay are fine. They are actually pretty good. I would have any hot side piping (downpipe etc.) made from mandrel bent exhaust piping or something, though.

lmao, caps lock is so gangster, bro.
Question, how did you go through four engines? Sounds like something wasn't running right, maintained properly, or you suck d**k at driving
