no im goin ta UTI automotive skewl. they train u from the ground up on how to be an auto mechanic bumper to bumper. 100% how to work on a car from the 60's and how to work on a car from the 2004's. itz like a year long, im almost 1/2 done now. rigth now im learning technical crap like how to enter vins into scan tools and what all the vins mean! i have to have like all 17 didget and what they mean memorized to pass the class! taday we started learing about fiber optic cables on the new 04 benzs and s**t, and computer processor crap. we also found out that some cars will actully lock the doors and unlock the doors depending on how FAR AWAY the key is from the ignition. and then when u get closer it will unlock the doors, move the seat(to the settings for that specific key), turn on ur radio, turn on all the dome lights when ur key gets close enuff to ur car. itz all crazy s**t!

if u have a 6th gen and the 8th didget in ur vin is a 5 then u do. personaly i dont like the abs. but with the abs comes other cool things. like we learned that OBDII cars with abs when it sences the brakes are being depressed, it electronicly startes to slow ur engine down, adjust ur timing, adjust ur injector pulse width, all these things just from haveing the abs sensor/wheel speed sensor. so when u hit hte brakes ur cars computer kinda wakes up. my car duznt :(

i figuered you were going to a school like UTI, but i saw you were 18 and wasn't sure. thats pretty cool that your learning all sorts of stuff like that. execpt the carb stuff; i don't like carbs either!
i was looking into going to UTI, but don't know for sure yet. did they tell you what kind of job you can expect to get after you graduate? i read in a UTI pamphlet that service techs are in pretty high demand and am a little curious what kind of a salary you could expect. and if you don't mind telling, how much was it for you to go there? i have some stuff from UTI, but never saw how much it costs to attend. i'm just interested because since your going there now, you would know first hand.

UTI isnt bad. itz roughly 20 grand to go here. just do not go to the phoenix campus. it was built in hte 60's and is old and falling apart. right now were bulding another campus with a buncha new equiptment. so right now all of our test stuff is ghetto but htis summer were gonna have an all new building. with all new stuff! that will be cool. im not sure how much i can belive them by this summer...but oh well. right now from what iv seen at the student services down here u can expect NOTHING when u get out. all they do is say u graduated and hand u a phone number and itz up to u to call the BMW ppl and get ur own interview and stuff. i know the pamphlet says theyll get u a job and thats what they call it. haha the skewls just under a year, i started 10/13/03 and grad like 9/26/04 if i dont take any time off but im gonna....

My fifth gen has a 9 in the eighth place. My car has ABS. Easy to tell on the fifth gen. Big pump and controller on the passenger side firewall below the battery. Also you will have rear disc brakes w/ABS. The owners manual for 94 says all EX's come with ABS but that has been disputed amongst coupe owners.
i have a 95 ex coupe without a/c or abs... my friend had a 93 ex that didnt have a/c either.

thanks for telling a little bit about UTI. i would probably go the the one in texas (houstin, i believe?) if i went at all. either way, i'm sure your learning some cool stuff that you will put to good use, even if they don't help you get a job. i'm still considering different things...UTI was something that crossed my mind, but i just wanted to know some more about it. are you able to take the Hot Rod U courses that focus on aftermarket and performace stuff too?, at the same time your doing the other stuff, or is it a seperate part of the school or a different location or something. get what i'm asking?

no hot rod is all part of. theres phases...u graduate a class every 3 weeks. my last class was all on how to test emissions, now im a certified emissions tester. im supposedly an expert on manual trannys cuz i took a 3 week class on it passed and that measn i graduated that part of the skewl. theres stuff like "ur required to have phases 17,22,4 and 5 to get into hot rod. iv had them all so im elegable anytime now to go into hot rod. it doesnt even have to be at the end of the skewl, alot of ppl take it while there smack dab in the middle of the rest of their classes. iv heard the bolt on performance is OK but when u get to build a 350 and put it in a T-Bucket is the funnest phase here. to day in lab i got to use a 2500 dollar snap on hand held lab scope and test every sensor in my car. it was cool, i looked at my graph on my O2 sensor, watched my TPS sensor as i floored it, looked at the graph on my cam and crank sensors. fun s**t!

Like I said before, I've got a 4 in the 8th place as well, but I know for a fact my car has the ABS; I've felt the system activate recently.
