I want my car to look nice and slick but also have some power. it doesnt need to be speedy gonzalez lol but i want some power
Decide which one you're going to tackle first. Making it look nice, or making it speedy. Yes, you can do both at the same time, but I always like to take things in steps. One day at the time, na mean? Just like sports, Concentrate on the next game, not the game after the next game. Its like a Science project. Hypothesis or Purpose, Materials needed, Procedure, Observations and Conclusion.

Or you can just sell the car because Honda's are slow and buy something you'll be happy with.

Modifications require money. Money that you don't have because you don't have a steady job. You're not going to get any faster with $10 here and there. Modifying cars requires thousands of dollars.

You should see the amount of money I have into my car, to have it barely quicker than a stock EX. Granted, I didn't spend what I SHOULD HAVE, and I focused money on quality and handling vs. speed.

The point is, to be ANY type of quicker, an i/h/e will not cut it. You either need to boost or swap, or both. Spray is cheap(er)but have fun blowing your motor.

you gota be like the tenth person to tell him about the finger thing (money). I am sure this guy understands financial income is an important part of life. I'm sure he appreciates our advice about this job situation, but let us not forget the name of the thread. It almost feels like we have an attitude of - Fu*ck this kid doesn't even have a job and he wants my advice, here's some advice kid, go get a fu*cking job.

He said Speedy. In this case, Only HE can determining the meaning of Speedy, specially since its HIS car that will be Speedy. What is speedy to you might not be speedy to him - vise versa, Na mean?

1. Honda's are slow?

Again, this goes back to - Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

I get you. But a lot of kids new to Honda's these days don't understand that Civic's don't respond well to bolt-ons. They don't get that the tiny 4-cylinder engine was mainly designed for economy while still maintaining that "peppy" feel.

People come on here constantly asking how to make their car faster with a few hundred dollars when the bottom line is you can't make it fast with a few hundred dollars. You're better off saving that money or just selling it for a different car that you'd be more happy with.

chill...

Make sure performance wise it's near perfect; you don't want to have a nice looking car that sucks s***; it's better to have a bad looking car that looks like s*** because the aesthetics are cheap to fix, but engines not.

Change fluids and service the parts for any problems. Don't tell yourself "i'll do it tomorrow" because if you wait, it adds on. If you see a problem and you know the problem go straight to the store and get what you need or go on YT, HT or here on CC for more help.

If you don't have a lot of money; put it to good use; don't push it into the looks where you'll just wear out the car along the way.
thanks for the useful information unlike some others

Why chill? Puma is right.

My friend spent near $1000 for brand name intake, header, and full catback exhaust and wasn't faster than me at all while I just had a $90 intake setup. I was a better driver so I could still walk him. We had the EXACT same cars except he had 100k less miles than me and was in MUCH better condition.

I agree that having a car that is well maintained is VERY important. Mine has been which is why it's still running at just under 224k miles (minus a transmission going bad from abuse). So if you must throw money at the car, throw money at maintenance. Honda's can last forever if you maintain it well.
