The plan is coming together. The list of things that are on the way might just be bigger than the list of things I still need. The latest:

D16Z6 distributor, valve cover gasket set with rubber washers and spark plug tube seals, Denso plugs (2 sets), and a B&M adjustable FPR.

So far, so good.

Nice build..im gonna put some of my pics up soon. Were doing the same thing lol. How much and where did you get that complete conversion harness. I also need a dizzy did you source that from the junk yard or CL?

Getting the conversion harness from Ebay, there's a guy that puts them together for this specific application. It's supposed to be every connector you'll need for about $150. Got the distributor from CL. One plug is a little chipped as you can see in that picture, but the locking clip and all the prongs are in good shape. Still, $40 is better than a minimum of $110+core (which I obviously don't have lol).

And to the pile we add a knockoff adjustable cam gear (yeah yeah, I'll upgrade to name brand when I boost) and an intake gasket.

Love coming home and having parts at my door. =)

Although I am sure it will be fine, I just have issues with using "No Name" Parts for something AS IMPORTANT as Timing, that thing goes bad AT ALL then stuff starts to break!... I bought a Underdrive Pulley for my B18 and now I am not going to use it because I didn't think of the importance of having a factory pulley due to the balance issues. So I am going to drop the coin on an Unorthodox which is NOT cheap but they are the ONLY one that is liquid balanced.

Just my 2 cents, but looks good...

Might I ask how much that was?

Please make sure to use OEM timing belt or Gates Racing... So VITAL

This one was a 5 bolt design, most of the uber-junk ones are only 4 bolt. Looking at it up close (and holding it), this one seems pretty heavy duty. If my shop buddy thinks it's no good I'll just keep the stock one, but it was only $35 shipped. I definitely want an AEM or other real name brand part once I start in with the boost, though.

I'm going with Gates racing for the timing belt, going to buy the belt/water pump combo off Ebay with the next round of money. It's the only part I need to put the head on the A6 and get it running. I'm still not positive how far I want to take the build before I start tearing things apart. My stock motor is running really well, but the rings are going so I blow smoke above 4k rpm. I don't really want to tear the block apart twice.

Check out this thread... About 3-5th pic is a Broken Timing gear.... Sooooooooo thoughts now? lol
I never thought using a cheap piece was a good idea with extra power, I know you get what you pay for. I'm only thinking about using it with the 120-130hp of stock output I'll get when it's first bolted together. No nitrous, no boost or anything like that. I'm pretty sure that motor in the picture was making substantially more than stock power when that gear blew. If that broken gear was on a stock motor, then yeah, I probably wouldn't use the one I just got lol

Merry Christmas to ME lol

OBD0 to 1 conversion harness, Energy Suspension motor mount inserts, Buddy Club V-CON VTEC controller, ARP head studs, ACL main and rod bearings. The harness seems really nice. I'd guess he's made a few of these before lol

PLLLLLLEEEASSSEEE take good pics. This thread will be epic and I personally will promote this thread. Your closer to doing what I need to do soplease take lots of pics. Also HENDO do u still have the intake mani? ANd why are you not using it? I need that sensor off the back of it. And can u take pics of your motor full 360* because I just picked up one but its missing some peices like crank pulley and some other things. Im gonna compare it to mine.

Yes, I'm using the intake mani now since I'm going to do it right and convert from OBD0 to OBD1. I was thinking about doing it ghetto at first and rigging up my distributor to work with the head OBD0 style, but having parts half-attached just didn't seem like a good idea when I considered the boost. And I didn't pick up a whole motor, I'm swapping a D16Z6 head onto my D16A6 block. The reading I've done says the A6 block is the stoutest of the D-series, and since my goal was about 300 whp I figured heavy-duty was better.

Oh ok....thats good...maybe i'll pick up a block like that for when I go turbo. When do you plan to do the conversion? And u still have to do the mpfi conversion correct?

Gonna do the conversion after I get everything I need together to build the motor. I'm still debating whether to do it all at once, or in two stages. I can either 1.) build the bottom end and leave the top end stock, and maybe put the boost on and blow it lightly, then do just the top end later and crank up the boost when the funds for the parts come around, or 2.) just wait till I have absolutely everything and yank the motor once. The main problem I have with the two part deal is paying to tune it twice, and the main thing about doing it all at once is waiting for the money and not having ANY fun in the meantime. I really think I'm going to just wait and do it all at once, meaning it probably won't be until May or June. I'd just slap the head on there and call it good to start off, but my piston rings are bad and I blow smoke over 4k rpm at WOT. Not gonna swap the head and not fix the bottom end, and I definitely don't want to pull the bottom end twice. I'm an (increasingly) well-researched, relatively mechanically-inclined enthusiast, not a certified master mechanic with my own garage lol

91 EX and Si are already mpfi, thankfully.

Pics ftw. Headgasket, exhaust mani gasket, and the turbo rebuild kit that came today. It's ABOUT TIME I got some parts I can actually do something with lol

Shop buddy told me "just rebuild that dang turbo here so I can watch you take it apart. I don't want you to end up bringing it to me all f**ked up and expecting me to fix it when I have no idea how it goes back together" lol

Gonna do that next week. :D I'm almost completely caught up at work, and this is my slow season (and his). I'm mildly excited about actually making progress. Time to stop spending money and do work. Maybe I can get him to cut and weld my header while I'm there. Cheap piece of Ebay garbage doesn't line up at ALL with where the cat sits. It'd be nice to have an exhaust that doesn't leak under hard acceleration.
