What do you think is the highest Rev you can get a DOHC motor up to. I know you can get your head rebuilt... but, what do you think the most RPM's you can get would be?

Safely rev and daily drive it...9-9500...but 9500 would really be pushing it for a daily driver..but if you just wanted to rev it there once, probably 11,000

yo man, you can rev to 11,500 if ya want too. Cruise at 90mph in liek 5th then drop too 2nd, you'll rev like 13,000. If you dont like your motor any more.

Your gonna need more than a built head.

It not just the head thats gonna spin up to that but pistons and everything.

This means ensuring all internal engine parts are as light as possible and that its all built to an incredibly close tolerence. Also consider the crank moving that fast on the bearings may cause the oil layer to break down meaning increased lubrication needed.

All this needs to be considered.

good points... im talking about after building the bottom end... but, your right, everything does need to be considered.

if everything is built right and there isn't a mistake anywhere i would say 15-17000. my grandpa (who raced scca) had a triumph tr-6 and that I-6 which he built could rev up to about 14,000 (this was not a daily drive though)

why would you need anymore than 8200 rpms anyway for a street car?
