ok this has to be one of the most ridiclious threads i have ever read. I mean buliding it up to hit 10k, thats one thing, but to go beyond that is just crazy in my opinion

s**t i accidently downshifted my s**t one time and hit 8k in it ... luckily i didnt f**k up anything (or maybe i did and thats why i got an oil leak now)

its a possibility... your oil leak do to over-rev that is... but on another note... does no one see the fun of never being able to over-rev your civic... be like... what redline...??

no, i see the fun of building up a badass motor and driving it like a sane person and not having the thing blow up with a quickness.

well if it really is a badass motor, then you should be able to drive it anyway you want. thats what makes a motor badass.

exactly... thats why you could drive crazy or sane... and not worry about blowing it sky high when it revs 10k or more... the fact you could period will make people wet their pants

Why would you want to spin the car to 11,000 rpm? You are just asking for trouble. How long do you think race motors last? A season a best? why do you think that is?

To get into the 13-15,000 range you will probably need pneumatic valves, typical springs just won't work anymore. Also, to get the head to flow that well, you would have NO power on the bottom end. You would have to rev the car to 5k rpm just to get moving.

The buildup would be extremely costly as well. Billet I-beam rods, billet crank, oiling issues. Too much work, $$$, without the benefits.

Ya but were not talking about old skool push rod engines :P Just kidding!

come on, 11,000? thats pussy s**t. the honda f1 cars go to 18,500. and honda has a button on their cars steering wheels, called the push to pass, and they can rev 200 rpm higher

you let me know when your civic is considered F1... and what F1 engine is a B series... and if its less than $5000.00 consider it done...

first off, the comment on you cant bore too much... where did you learn that b/c it is possible to port too much and kill the flow characteristics of the runner. thats why its a specialty job that takes precision to make it work properly. its a myth that bigger is better, but the power comes from the design. and who is bringing up f1 motors here? we are talking about street machines, f1 are full blown, technically advanced race machines that are built so perfect they dont use gaskets. i wanna see that kind of money go into a daily driver.

What kind of joker are u!?

That's like comparing a remote control car to a real car...u numb nut.:nono:

And in reference to making honda engines rev to a higher range, i'd only consider to make mine go upto 9500rpm....but even then, i'd only ever be hitting the 9k mark.....
In power terms, there is no need to rev higher than 9000rpm from a b16a, so why bother?
