The reflector is required by SAE/DOT, under FMVSS-108 which is a Federal regulation. You may want to check the information you have gotten about being legal without amber reflectors, since Federal regulations require it.

I understand most people would not be concerned about illegal equipment on their vehicles, but the first thing an officer uses to pull a person over is either license plate, loud exhaust, loud stereo, or missing reflectors on the front or back of the vehicle.

Just my 2 cents.

It's up to the states to prosecute it, and amber is no longer required for taillights (I belive passed in 96) a good example of this is the 1999-2000 honda civic's which by factory standards have no amber reflectors. But I agree you can still get harassed for anything now adays, all depends on the type of day the cop is havin =0

As for the regulation here is what is required:

Amber reflectors in the front (which are in the headlamp assembly from the factory)

Red reflectors in the rear (which are in the taillamp assembly from the factory)

As you may know, that is the reason that TYC has both red reflectors in the rear, and amber reflectors in the front if the OE unit includes them. An example of a lamp that doesn't have them on the tail lamp is the 03-04 Lexus RX330, which has the reflector on the bumper instead of the lamp.

And it is up to the state or county to regulate the laws. Some will enforce the laws if they see fit. It's just better to be safe then sorry in regards to illegal products.

If you have anymore questions, please let me know, and I will be more then happy to help.

I actually got a ticket for having the hyper white lights in my turning lenses, had to go through the trouble to change em back and take it to the courthouse to be seen by an inspector... not only to end there, but having to pay a stupid fine as well. I still have the clear corners, but just so they cant say s**t, i have amber lights for the turning signals.
