well i have had both.. in those pictures i had an OEM one down there it fit ok.. but now i have an aftermarket one down there and it fits MUCH better..

the oem one required it to be shaved with a dremel... the housing itself.. the plastic.. on the oem one needed to be shaved to fit it in.. once it was thin enough it just slid in and mounted.. i also shaved a bit off of the din itself.. the edges of the OEM one covered the din hole.. then i just mounted it in there...

the ONLY way i would do it is to take it apart first and paint the housing seperately... you have to be REALLY carefull when you take it apart.. the lense in the front is held in by like snap;s. and if you are not carefull and delicate with teating it down you will probably break them ( i almost did.. lol)

question for ya OC, howd u get your gaiter (think u call it a boot??) to stay up on the spoon gear knob? my gaiter just falls down and makes a clanging noise.... also how did u change the colour of the dials in your car heating etc to blue? i wanna do that and i wanna relocated my Head Unit to the lower DIN plate and get a block off or something, u should write up a DIY on relocating Head unit!!!

go to the auto or hardware store and get some grommets that are big enough to slide onto your shaft.. when you put them on there.. it will make the shifter shaft fatter and the hole in the gaiter will be too small to slip past the grommets.. this will hold it up.. in regards tot he noise im not sure what brand shifter is it?

there is some info in this thread about it back a page or two..its really not that easy to get it to come out good.. i reaplaced ALL my bulbs (interior instrument and heating/air controls with blue LEDs the problem with LEDs is if you just throw them in there they look like s**t.. so you have to spend a few hours adjusting them.. if you do a search with my user name, and LED Lighting you should find a few threads ive made discussing it..

im waiting on you to come take them and put them in your mag getting some more little corners squared away..right now im cutting some C/F to hold some gauges.. just some more little work.. like i said not a ton is all that different.. just some little s**t.. the interior is cleaning up well new head unit.. just little stuff really.. not much new to see
