Going to chime in on a couple things that have been brought to the table.

Evo: They are a great bang for the buck and like said above they are awd and are excellent for the winter. 2 guys at work daily drive them. One has just over 400hp and I don't know much about the other one. 2 problems that I see are gas mileage and insurance. If you can stay off the pedal they don't do that bad considering how much power they can put out, but even then they get around 17-18 city. At least that is what the guys tell me. On the insurance, one guy is paying just shy of $400 a month and the other is paying $215. I seriously thought about picking one up as we had one traded in on an RS5. After a call to my insurance agent and him telling me that they were in the top 3 highest car insurance rates (WRX STi is in the top 5), I changed my mind for now.

Porsche: They are extremely finicky and are VERY expensive to work on. Trust me, I bill parts out for them daily and it is amazing how much the parts cost. They definitely are beautiful cars and are a blast....if you can afford the maintenance.

I don't see how an EVO could be considered as a good bang for the buck. They are expensive as hell for the amount of power they put out. Don't get me wrong, they are quick. But under 300hp at the crank on an AWD car probably comes out to about ~225whp. 225whp on a car that cost at least $20k used is by no means "a good bang for the buck". Give me that $20k, I'll build you a car that makes ~450whp, and gets roughly the same gas mileage.

that much money, you could make a beast of a civic, or an rsx, or a honda/acura in general

I kind of get what your saying. I guess it depends on where you are and opinion on bang for the buck. There is a couple for sale around here for under $18k. The one that I almost picked up, I would have gotten for $11k. They sold it on the lot for just under $14k. Still pretty good bang for the buck in my opinion considering how much power they have stock and how much they can produce for not that much more. Think about if I picked up the one for $11k and put $9k into it to add up to your $20k and where it would be power wise!

yeah i am really digging a g coupe, found a couple around here that may work, but i think i will wait till i get a white sport with 6speed before i bite. the nsx that you posted earlier jason has netted no return email, i suspect that its a scam. the super charged xterra is something that i really like. the ridgeline and pilots are not enough power for me, and the ridge line is kind of wack looking. pilots are neat but their milage kind of blows if i remember right.

As much as I say a lot of people hop on the wrx/sti/evo bandwagon, they are decent cars and they really aren't a bad choice at all.

Have you considered an Evo? The price of those are going down as well. They are easier to work on than a boxer motor and they have a better $$$:power ratio compared to the STi.

the problem with the 911 is the maintenance/ cost of upkeep... as far as auto trader, my area works best on the internet, here in california, the birthplace of everything great, we use craigslist and autotrader.com to showcase our cars. the paper is kind of a lost cause here.
