well not all technicians at dealer are bad. i used to work at dealerships, mater of fact i perfer it over independent shops because i get to pensions and all the medical/dental benefits plus better work hours/ pay those are the things you don't get when you work at a independent shops 99% of the time
Thats why I said theyre largely morons and not all. But you just said you use to work at one. Its more miss than hit when you go to a dealership. You & I both know that an overly tight drum is easy to avoid, especially at a dealership where theyre not usually rushed to finish jobs.

Even if you get a good tech, they over charge for their services. @jackdog1, consider you learned a valuable lesson because any standard mechanic couldve handled this and much cheaper.

over charging is true, yea sometimes they rush its mostly techs that are slow end up messing up when they try to rush things. only reason why i can no longer work at dealerships is cause of my past history(won't go in to details) so i'm stuck with working at independent shops. but i haven't been able to return to working and probably not ever since i sustain heavy heavy injuries to my legs broken right femur and broken left ankle. some people are bit shy to try on their own first time around until they get fed up with it and just decide to try it out for them self or go to a independent shops. and i end up telling them you should have tried it your self first time around would have avoided all that hassle and unhappiness service. yea i worked at Mercedes, Toyota, and Subaru dealership in my younger days.

@HeX, I do not appreciate you hijacking my thread on low mpg into a rant against dealerships. Despite your personal opinions, the Honda dealership I use is reputable and did an excellent job on a problem that I had neither the tools, parts, experience, or time to resolve.

Its not hijacking as its commenting on one of your statements and choices, so calm down. Your here for advice and suggestions and thats what you received. If you already had a positive experience then it shouldve been stated much earlier. Clear details on your behalf wouldve avoided this misunderstanding.
