about the wheels, im either going to powder coat the ones i have on their now a darker shade of pink or, im going to get a set of gunmetal RAYS.
My instincts tell me to go with the gunmetal... but then again I've never seen darker pink wheels. So maybe it'll look good? See if you can get a photoshop done by someone maybe. Just to get a rough idea of how it might turn out.

If your friend is still interested in swapping his front end, like I said, my sister in DE has a mint '98 front end on her GS right now. It's Cayenne Red Pearl and has a bit of a swirled scratch in the paint on the passenger side. I imagine he'd repaint it anyway though. She's shown interest in posibly swapping her front, but the price has put her off before.

Hey man nice car. I am also stationed here in Japan at Camp Zama. I was looking into getting a car over here and shipping it back until I decided that it would be a waste of money. Can you give me some links to research the laws on importing and all of that. I am really interested in importing a skyline i know that there is not and american equivalent here so i am in the market for a new car to fix and import.

are you getting a IS300 or an Altezza? they are very different cars..the Altezza has a BEAMS 3SGE with dual vvti. its a high revving 4cyc built and designed by yamaha. in stock trim it makes 210ps. It also has a 6spd manual tranny. the altezza is also slightly smaller and narroer than the US IS300.
the IS300 has a 2jz and comes with a 5spd manual or auto.


I cant speak for the IS300 but here are the altezza pros and cons
pros: they look awesome when modded
handle fantastic
fast.
4 door VIP thing
'classy" perfect for a young 20 something
plenty of mods available
the engine is awesome..strong, revs to 8k stock (i redline at 9400 now thanks to the toda kit =))
room for you and friends
not many people have them
with the HKS speed limit defensor you will run out of road before you run out of gears. i have gotten mine up to 270km/h with 600 hundred rpms to spare

cons:
expensive to mod
expensive to insure
finding a tuner to work on them
you can fit 5 people but its kinda tight in the rear...thats about all the cons i can think of!

Wow i never knew there was a difference....I wonder how hard it would be to put that motor in the IS300?

to date only one person has done it and the cost invloved cost almost as much as the IS300 itself :shock:
plus finding a tuner in the US to perform the swap and is familar with this JDM only engine is not going to be easy

the BEAM 3SGE is like the B18C5 of the toyota/Lexus world.

the cost of the engine varies between 4500-9k. not to mention you need the 6spd tranny. and im not sure how it would work with the IS300 being LHD...your better off finacnially just keeping the 2j that the IS300 comes with and boosting it.
if you stay NA with the 2j dont expect to make lots of power..it dosnt respond well to bolt ons and NA tuning.
your lucky if you get 220rwps.
currently im NA tuned (i listed my mods on page 3) and I have sero problems beating stock GTRS, TT supras, etc. :D

hes the fastest from a dig....he will beat me for about 100m, then i real him in like the big bass he his. on the highway and top speed runs i cant be touched. the ITR runs outta breath quickly

his engine is completely JUN tuned. and i mean completely.

keep a look out for project E46 M3 this fall
