You are f**king stupid. Don't post and be an a*****e about something you think you know something about trying to prove me wrong but have no f**king clue. All information you stated says that they are not illegal, which is true in all but two states. But, I was stating that police officers are way more inclined to give you a ticket rather then let you off with a warning when they see a radar detector. Both my parents are police officers and I know EVERY cop on the police force where my parents work and have talked to at least 25 or more of them about it and they all say that they are more likely NOT to give a warning and just give a ticket when they see a radar detector because it just tells them that you were trying to hide something and trying to get away with something so they decide its better just to give you a ticket to teach you a lesson.

And radar detectors are not that great anyway, just don't be f**king stupid while driving. It is simple.

So next time before you decide to talk out of your ass again, think. Thanks.

EDIT: I forgot, your 17 you know EVERYTHING.

And no, you can't get a ticket for having a radar detector but there is always something illegal on you car. Especially because we all drive Civics.
hahahah, seriously radar detectors are essentially worthless, if you don't speed you won't get pulled over, if you do speed, do it in areas where you know there will not be police, I know for a fact Washington State Patrol uses LIDAR and as soon as they press the clocking trigger and your laser detector goes off you are still screwed cuz you are already clocked, waste of money in my opinion, and I have been ticket free for my entire life of driving without one so yeah...

Dunno about everyone else but I don't use mine to avoid tickets, I use it so I know when there is a cop in the vicinity. They have some sort of K/X band on 70% of the time, when you pick one up a mile away might as well drop down your speed just so your going the limit when he sees you.

I got pulled over for my exhaust not being stock and I was issued a repair order. So not doing anything wrong and you won't get pulled over is udder bullshit. But still obey the law. Even though they will pull you over if they feel like it, or if it is around quota time. Number Two is when I got pulled over the officer looked inside my car saw my radar and didn't say one word about it. Because the bottom line is they only detect if the police car radar is on. So if they want to sneak up on you and catch you anyway they can just turn it off.

P.S. I have a Passport 8500

X band sucks

driving along out in the sticks and your detector starts chirping. You instinctively tap the brake to shut off the cruise and drop down to the limit.

Chirp chirp chirp chirp.....for freaking ever until you hit the Resume button on the cruise control and it's about that time that you finally see effin' Barney Fife sitting on the shoulder.

I didn't say they were gonna call you out about it... because they won't because it is legal.. but im just saying that in their mind you are trying to hide something and they are more likely to give you a ticket instead of a warning.. If you don't want to belive me thats fine.. I just thought I would share this with all of you. You may choose to use this info or not. ;)

i read/saw something about a radar detector that is a front and rear license plate frame for the antennaes and then you mount 4 single leds on ur dash for the indicators and mount the "brain" or whatever somewhere inconspicuous....sounds really nice specially since they're illegal in VA, but i dont think they'd notice that one

A cop doesnt need to get you on the clock to pull you over for speeding. If you sees you "traveling unreasonably fast", he is going to pull you over anyway...

I think its pretty funny saying that when your only 19 yourself. :???:

But anyway, on to the subject at hand, I have a Escort Solo S2 and I love it. Saved my ass plenty of times plus it doesn't have that annoying cord to stare at.

I dunno.. I guess I wasn't really referring to age.. more to maturity wise and I couldn't think of a better way to say it then using his age... ive seen mature and immature 17 year olds and the same with 19 yr olds.. I was just going by how he was acting in his post.

You will learn to find out where those false alarms are (in normal everyday driving). I know where all false alarms are in my whole town and on the freeway to the city, when I see a X band in a area that never picks up false alarms I know that there is a sherrif (which most use X band in my town) in the area and Im right 99% of the time. Some sherrifs do use K,s normaly the city police do. Ka's are a always cops, never have I gotten a false alarm from Ka's. If you want the most use out of your radar, dont get a cheap one (under $200) and over time learn where your false alarms are. Buying a radar doesnt mean you can speed and avoid getting tickets.

I get the occasional "false" Ka alert and don't see a cop... I usually wonder if he's on a parallel street or just hidden real freakin' well.

:word: :werd:

It's just a tool to help you know when you are under speed surveillance.

Oh yeah theres always hidden bands that hit in an area that usually doesn't sense false alarms...but Ka's are always a city cop for me.

Dont you have to turn it off and on every time you use it? Sounds like a pain in the ass.
