they arent expensive.

modding cars is expensive. by the time he gets the mods he wants to do for this thing, he will probably spend more than the purchase price of a supra.

TT supra: 6-13k depending on condition, kms, etc

Not just that.. but maybe he's a bit of a Nissan man now? Right?

And the only Supras that motor came in anyway, as FRODO mentioned.... are NOT in the same price range. Remember kids, Supras aren't the same price here as they are in teh JAY-DEEEEEEE-EMMM LAND.

Damn man, congrats on the car. I spent two months searching for one of those near my area without any luck. Can't wait to see what you do with it.

your civic weighs less than that silvia.
First... that's not a Silvia. S13 != Silvia. (It's US and no matter what he does... it will never be a Silvia just like your Altezza wil lnever really be an IS300.)

Anyway, I found a listing for a 1990 240SX curb weight being 2651lbs for the XE, and 2684lbs for the SE fastback (like my friend's car). My last car was the same as my current car besides the year. Same generation though, same everything. It was a '97 Civic EX coupe. When it was totalled out it was weighed and found to weight over 2800lbs.

LOL S13 is just a chassis code. not the model name
if he looks under his hood it will say S13.
and your right its not a silvia its a "240sx". but i know it as a silvia so thats what i call it. 240sx sounds retarded lol

Well, calling a US 240SX (or S13 - I know chassis codes... I made the chassis code list on this site) sounds retarded to many of us too.... or calling a US Civic sedan a saloon.

I take since you only "know it as a silvia" that you've only started finding out about these cars within the last three years then? I'd imagine if a person grew up in the US around US name-plated cars and then spent a couple years in Japan... that US car names would not sound "retarded" just because they weren't used to hearing them for a few years.

Thanks for assuming I don't know anything. Might want to look up a couple of my posts from the past. Or check the specs at the top of this page. :???:

in the US there is very little aftermarket support for the CA. you willl be better off with the sr20. but ihate both motors. we swapped a RB20DET from a R32 Skyline when i had a S14 Silvia. it was fun but nose heavy.

my opinion? keep the KA.
if you really want to be different swap a Sr20DE in. keep it all motor
Trust me when I say I know my motors that can be swapped into a 240.... My brother has an RPS13 with an RB20 in it, ridden in an SR20 swapped S13 and S14, ridden in an RB swapped S14 with a built engine (hot sex), ridden in an RPS13 with a silvia front conversion and a CA18, rode in a KA-T S13, own (current, still have it) S14..... I know what I am doing....

CA is a very strong motor with lots of aftermarket support if you know where to look.... It gets some bad rep because people generally don't rebuild them before they swap.... Considering how old most of them are its just stupid and not a good idea.... Somebody on another forum I frequent owns an S13 with a stock CA in it making ~215 hp and 250 hp, granted he is running pretty crazy A/F ratios....

SR20s are the B16s of Nissan.... Sure they are good, but they aren't all they are cracked up to be.... Plus everybody wants and generally gets it...

N/A? f**k that.... Its boost all the way.... And if I was going to go N/A I WOULD stick with the KA.....

Swapping in an RB is fun, and its different, but its also a pain in the ass.... Trust me, my brother has it done and its a pain to find parts and to get everything going right.... Its damn nice when done, but compared to other swaps I just dont think its worth it....

Basically the CA is different and strong..... A well built CA is just as good if not better then a KA-T, SR20det, and RB20det..... And I just like the motor....

Its my car, its my money, its my time.... I think I'm gonna do what I want to do..... ;)

^^ why not get a JZA80 supra if you want RWD?
thats what i did. its a porker, but fun
Overrated, too expensive....

Nissan > Toyota in my book....

Good deal Joe. :thumbs up I'd get rid of that lethargic KA if I were you too. Jason tells me he'e heard it's a great block and all, but I've only heard my Nissan friends b***h about theirs. :rolf: Not to mention my stock Y8, slipping clutch, heavy ass EX beating my friend's 240.
Trust me, I'm not sticking with the KA.... Its definitely a strong motor, but its also a pain in the ass.... If you ever blow a head gasket it is just easier to change out the entire motor rather then the gasket.... The timing chain and such make it very difficult and just not worth it.... ;)

Sounds like it will come out looking great. I only wish I could have the chance to detail it. First thing I thought of when I saw the taillights. I miss detailing 240s. :(
I want Kouki tails soooooo bad....

I definitely need to wash and wax it though.... The kid who had it before me did a HORRIBLE job with it.... Smudges everywhere, spiderweb scratches, just not very good.... And its pretty new paint as well, so there is no excuse for it.... :D

whats your plans with the car? please dont say drift :???:
Daily Driver

With a side of Drift.....

Its a hobby, and a fun one at that.... Say what you will, but I'm not on any band wagon.... I was into it before it got popular.... This will be my 3rd RWD car, and each one was going to be a DD w/ drifting occasionally....

There are many events planned that are perfectly legal times to actually drift and do it right if you know where to look.... The only other forum I actually go to is www.ncdrifters.com .....

Sooooo yeah.... I'm saying it.... What of it?

SXE-10 said:
noo not all of them. only the 89-91 i belive. the rest had redtop SR20dets.

my friend jessies is a 93 and her came with a redtop SR20
The 180sx, or the second part of the sil80, was made for many years after the S13 Silvia was discontinued and the S14 was started... It kept going for many years, going through a change from zenki - chuki - kouki.... That is where the Kouki taillights are from.... And the Kouki 180sx is down right gorgeous....

SXE-10 said:

And I spent less then 4k on mine... And you can usually find them for ~2k in slightly worse condition....

Sooooooo.... You can call something by a name that it is not right, but we can't call a certain style JDM?

Doesn't sound a bit right to me.... :what:

Oh, and my car is an RHS13.... ;)

I can help you out with the detailing aspects at least if you'd be willing to get some tips. ;) I'll try to start out doing some silver cars (probably going to be a couple of VSM EJs I know of locally though that have been wanting a good cleaning). It's a similar toned silver, so I'm sure I could figure some stuff out.

A good wash, polish, clay, and wax *should* be all a silver car would normally need. I leave out the glaze because well, there's not too much richness in silver to try to increase the depth of the paint. A glaze might help with ridding you of sme fine swirl marks and such though. Looks like most of the swirls are just in the wax though. It's just a bit too waxy still.

Here's a little tip in case you can't remove all the wax swirls because of the weather (which is what it looks like he had trouble with). Wash the car. That's all. =) It should help out even if just until you detail it yourself. Oh, and I was thinking you'd get new taillights, but for the time being (and for sale) it'd be nice to have them rich like before. A bit of Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish will bring them back to life. =) Also great for non-painted wheels, exhaust, etc.

If I went from spoilerless to a Wangan wing, I would be able to tell a difference.... I know from one of my very mechanically inclined friend's first hand experience.... ;)

So, yes, it would actually....

Also, wings aren't always for performance aspects.... We can use it for style as well.... ;)

If you don't know, its ok to admit it.... I do it often....

Just please don't come in here and start arguments about what I want to do.... This is a happy occasion, we are supposed to celebrate and revel in the glory that is a new car.... :D

Like I said, you can tell a difference.... Even between spoilerless and the dumb ass little stock foam spoiler you can tell a difference....

I've worked on more 240s then he's even ridden in.... I think I know what I am doing....
