Other than that im a full time highschool student...
Sure they can. If you work for tips only, they dont really have to pay you minimum wage. Just as long as by the end of the work shift, you make more than minimum wage.ryan89crx said:$4.20/hr?!?!?!?!
isnt minimum wage $5.15? here in WA, tips can in no way compensate for part of your hourly wage...
nope, read the minimum wage requirements for WA state. it specifically states that tips cannot compensate for your minimum wage.EJ6Civic27 said:Sure they can. Oh, well its different here in New York then. Here in NY, tips can compensate for minimum wage. As long as you break the minimum wage after the work shift in tips, its O.K. If you dont break minimum wage with tips, they pay you minimum wage.ryan89crx said:nope, read the minimum wage requirements for WA state. it specifically states that tips cannot compensate for your minimum wage.
commission on the other hand is another story
sucks to be working under minimum in other statesCan a business count workers' tips when making sure they get at least minimum wage?
No. Businesses may not use tips as credit toward minimum wages owed to a worker.
