ahh yes, noise ordinance and bullshit laws. Cops down here in Alabama, Georgia, Florida have different laws for for the same offense.
I learned a lesson when i was 16, BUY A DECIBEL METER! Alabama Sate Law is like a 96dB, but my county is 92dB, South West Georgia is a 94dB, and some parts of Florida range from 92dB to 96dB. I can hit 98dB with my 12's on about 3/4 of the way up and have gotten out of tickets by just turingin the bass down and moving the nob so they dont turn it way up, when i read out at like 91dB they write the ticket off. But here are some experiences i have ran into.I have ran 2 differnt exhaust systems, my Mugen twin loop puts out 94dB w/o silencer and 90dB w/ a silencer. My HKS Hi Power only runs 90dB w/o silencer.
Tickets that i have gotten out of:
Alabama- Noise Ordinance Exhaust- Hi Power HKS- hit 90 dB @ Police Station (OWNage)
Alabama- 21" Headlight Law- State headlights have to be 21"'s from the ground- State Troopers Office 21.7" from ground (coilover OWNage)
Georgia-Noise Ordinance-speakers, turned down bass and removed nob-hit 72dB @ Police Station (mesmarterthanyou OWNage x2)
Florida-Red Neon Ordinance (back in 98 LMAO)Painted tubes with red/pink lens paint, deemed PINK NEONS (OWNAGE)
Alabama Bumper Clearance- 4" from ground, WTF! no lambos here, (Coilover OWNage)
Know your laws, do some research before your court appearance, and state your case. A prepared "offender" in court with a liable story and proof (regardless counterfeit or real) can get out of BS tickets. And if you have to many tickets by the same officer or couple of officers than you can file a harrasment clain against your PD <--NOT ADVISED, you wanna see someone get singled out, you better get that cop fired or something. I'll ask the guys around the shop in the mornign but abou their harrassment stories. BUT 9 times out of 10 you can beat it in court as long as you can produce a legal car at the hearing, dont ride up with your s**t dropped and your silencer out. BE SMARTER THAN THE SYSTEM.
