Ok, so I was bored, and it was too cold to wash the whip today (36*F), so I completed the lighting mod to amber (finished the climate control illumination)... So I thought, I may as well install my Skunk2 SS... That fell by the wayside, so I ended up doing the radio relocate mod to the console, where the pocket used to reside (never used the damned pocket anyway...).
The harness, RCA cables and antenna reached fine, surprisingly..
PRO: Flip the cupholder lid up, viola - radio hidden...
CON: put a cup in the cupholder, it pushed the lid fully open, engaging Pioneer's Detachable Face button, popping the faceplate off!!! Fukk... ;)
Oh well, I can mod the thing to allow the radio to sit further back, ultimately clearing the cupholder cover, altogether..

so now, what to do with that gaping hole where the radio originally resided?? Whip out a sheet of ABS, cut a panel, get out the 2-1/16" holesaw, pop three holes in it, and slap in some VDO gauges I have laying around...

I know, I know... PICTURES... Ive taken a couple, just havent downloaded them from the camera yet.. mayb e tonight or in the morning.. My kid's are on my last friggin nerve right now.. Lilly turned one and if she keeps it up, might not make it to see two... :P just kidding, freaks.. she's a daddy's girl..

ok, so I took a couple of pics of the recent interior mods...

GSR cluster

New VDO gauges... Illumination matches the cluster, as does the illumination for the climate controls.. yes, I know there are two Oil psi gauges there.. one's just filling a hole til the correct gauge shows up.. Final arrangement will be 1. outside temp, 2. oil pressure, 3. water temp

Radio Relocate...

A shot of all three (radio relocate, VDO gauges, GSR cluster...

I'll try to get a pic of the GSR seats today, as well..

THanks, Shogun, for that ever-so-generous offer, but I've already sold them.. I ended up putting Black velour GSR seats in... The seat brackets for the Brides were another 300 for the pair... naahhh... wasnt feeling it right now.. ;)

Yes, I did.. Was it a pain in the ass? ROYALLY...
But nothing else on the car was chrome.. And besides, I think it subdues them so much, which I like..

I actually removed them, removed ALL the sticky tape from them, sanded, cleaned, degreased them, prepped them and painted them with a flat black..

Preparation is KEY, cuz if it chips, you gotta do the process all over...
Took me about 6 hrs, altogether..
Used the FSM to relocate them back onto the car to factory spec..
The longest of the process was removing the sticky s**t off the car.. That took a few hours, there. I tried GOO-GONE, Mineral spirits, laquer thinner, amonia... ended up using my friggin thumb and 'rolling' it off.. Yeah, blisters suck..

GSR cluster
Just another quick note:
This thread started the week I bought it: 9/4/05.. Today is 12/11/05.. 3 months, 7 days..
Purchase mileage: 88,716
Current mileage: 97,165

almost 10,000 miles in three months.. Yeah, that's why I dont want to do any mods that effect the fuel mileage!

Any pics on the sway bar setup... especially that modified front ITR sway bar. How'd you put it on?

Pics = no...
The only real problem was that once we sat it back ont he ground, the bar curled and rested against the shift-linkage.. Couldnt move the shifter.. so a couple of spacers at the bushing brackets, and a little engineering at the link end - viola!

Ended up rummaging a CTR bar from my friend and swapped it in place, over the ITR bar... no mods, no 'engineering' :D

Howdy, folks..
Well, I tried my (weak) hand at a photoshoot...
Camera: HP Photosmart 720
Flash: No
Speed: 400
Tripod: Target special

I took them in 2048 x 1536, but reduced the size and quality to help out you dialup peeps..
I reduced them to 800 x 600..
Without further adue....

The '97 GSR Seats...

Photoshoot...

And lastly, my first artistic attempt and basic photoshop skills (or lack, thereof...)

heh! Ive got a little bit of leftover scraps from a 4' x 8' sheet of this ABS, from back in my custom automotive audio/video installation life. But you should be able to buy a 1'x1' piece by METRA, from a local car audio installation place near you, like Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.. Or Crutchfield.

Or I could make you one.. (panel, pre-drilled for 1,2 or 3 52mm gauges)
