the only way to get more of the background would be if your starting pix was wider. to match the ratio of the 5:1.

or you can use multiple layers and the erase around what you want to get something like this

or you could use more than just that one picture. it would be easier if you had more pix that would fill up the rest of the space...

with the eraser selected right click on the pix and turn hardness to 0%

yeah they;re gif images you need image ready to do em. like cod mans. its a series of pix played in order that reapets forever.
