i'd be buying new for the warranty, the srt4 is much easier and much less expensive to make faster and it's covered by warranty 100%
the s2k is pretty much tapped from the factory for power, costs $10,000 more, and as little as an aftermarket intake will void the warranty
werd ive actually heard putting aftermarket boltons on the s2k makes it loose power. there was a mugen s2k with a bunch of s**t on it that had the same peak HP as factory, but was quicker cuz everything was carbon fiber. but power adders are another story. i saw a mag with a 560whp s2k turbo in it or something, but yea the srt is much easier to make faster.

only if you use mopar upgrades which comes in 3 stages, the stage 2 is around $1800 and would put the srt3 into the 12's..... and covered 100% by factory warranty

and the stage 2 has some nifty nifty stuff

here's something i posted awhile ago about the stage 2 and 3 kits

"the stage 2 kit for the srt4 uses the stock turbo, but will take it to its absolute limit. the kit will use even bigger injectors (%30 bigger than the stock 03's and %20 bigger than the stock 04's) and 3-bar MSP and TIP sensors that allow the new ecu to push as high as 20psi. Now here are the really cool parts, in increasing the order of collness: First the boost dial, a five-position dial that lets you run full boost all the time, different boost for different gears, or all the way down to 6psi for low-grip conditions. Next to that is the intercooler spray switch. the sprayer uses a high-pressure pump (45psi) and Aquamist nozzles to spray a fine fog of cooling water of the intercooler. The sprayer can be controlled by the ecu based on speed, throttle position, ambient temperature and intercooler temperature, and the spray pattern and spray schedule was actually perfected in the wind tunnel to get the most cooling from the least water. coolest of all: a race gas switch. push the button and the ecu swithces to maps tuned for 100-octane unleaded. and if you're a dumbass and you run the 100-octane map on street gas? THe knock sensor sees it, turns on a little, red dumbass light, and switches back to the street map.
Then there's the big one: stage3. the big important part of stage 3, of course, is the turbo. since the turbo, wastegate, exhaust manifold and downpipe are all one casting, stage 3 gets to upgrade all of them. the turbo itself is a mitsubishi 15g-k2, the same turbo that came stock in the lancer evo VI, but without the evo's divided exhaust housing. the evo VI, for the record, had the biggest turbo of any stock EVO. the turbo still uses conventional sleeve bearings, but has an exotic, lightweight titanium aluminide turbine wheel for quicker spool up. the downpipe casting is much larger, and the area around the wastegate has been opened up for less disruptive merging of the two exhaust flows. so, still embarrassed to be seen driving a neon? they say that stag3 feels just like stage2 for normal driving.... except that you can chirp the tires at 70mph
and yes, all 3 are great for daily driving and people report 24mpg with the stage3 kit

thats great, do you have any idea of what kind of hp numbers you could get out of stage 3?

you mentioned before (in another thread) that you were going to get the srt4, how is that going?

i'm waiting till june for the srt4, i'll be getting a killer deal at that time.

the stage3 in HOM (high octane mode) will be pushing ~350hp and is good for 11's on slicks

SRT4s are easily the best bang for the buck ever.. alot of ppl make fun of them in my area, why I dont know? there are about 4 or 5 now in my town.. a new orange one appeared this weekend, and all of them are stock except my friends w/ just intake/bov.. well there is this one that has a horrible looking body kit and wheels and what not, but as for performance I believe its stock..

lol the s2000 would dip on that srt4 after 3rd gear. the s2000 is a top end sports car. the srt4 is only good at short distance drag.

um.....no bro. that race probably STARTED in 3rd gear dolt, and yea the s2k is faster stock and has crazy top end, but the srt has a shitload of power top end and low end. and srt's are drag cars, they are built for it, and they aren't just good for short distance drag.
