SRT-4s aren't that fast....

they actually have a VERY good reputation for reliability and their warranty is one of (if not THE) best on the market as far as supporting modifications.

some people dont like the looks, there's no way to argue looks, it's a personal opinion subject. as far as saying they are "just a neon" that is just ignorant though. the neon and the srt4 have the same amount in common as the evoVIII and the plain ol' lancer have in common. they share a basic frame structure although the srt4 and the evo both have stronly re-inforced frames compared to their low-performance counterparts, they DO NOT share any of the shortcomings with the regular dodge/plymouth neon of old.

the shot of the srt4 blowing it's motor was with a 150 shot of nitrous untuned.... just because the owner is an idiot does not mean the car was at fault
the car at the end was a mitsubishi galant vr4, they have the coveted turbo 4g63 motor.... the same motor found in turbo dsm's AND the evo

an srt4 against a newer mustang gt stock to stock is a drivers race.....

Exactly. The srt 4's motor is built tough as fawk. They are one of the domestic cars I would actually own. I think it's funny how civic drivers try and make fun of SRT's.

I like SRT4's and i'm pretty sure it will be my next car. I test drove one and i like it. The seats are nice and the interior isnt that bad. Fastest car you can buy for the money.

a stock neon r/t can keep up or in some cases beat a 6th gen si stock to stock
there are only 2 cars built by honda for retail sale that have a chance to beat a srt4 stock to stock, those cars are the s2000 and the nsx

srt4 = $20,000

i just saved myself $12,000 worth of debt and my driving record and my lack of self control wont allow me to have a car faster then a gsr.... that's why i sold my last dsm....

in a few years (maybe sooner) i'll have one....

in the mean time i'll keep my slow ass gsr and save up money

Ya know Todd I got nothin' but respect for ya bro but I think you might be giving the R/T a little too much credit.

My EX can give a 2nd gen Eclipse RS a good run and it's powered by essentially the same motor as the R/T. Unless you are talking about a newer R/T or something.

they have essentially the same motor (420a), but the rs eclipse has 10 less hp and i forget how much less torque due to a different intake manifold design (the motor is put in backwards in the r/t neon). also the r/t is much much lighter than an rs eclipse. both of those allow for much faster times... not "fast" but "faster" then the rs/gs eclipse

Ahhhhh, my friend with the RS swears his replacement motor was a Neon R/T motor. (he broke the original timing belt on the first one at around 75,000) All I know for certain is,1: It's a decent quality reman, Jasper, ATK or something, and 2: If I tree his RS he will not catch me...my poor EX has to fight out of a torque deficit but when I can, I'll stay in front.


10 hp huh? I think I'm gonna have to call bullshit on him having an R/T motor...
