From the directions here, it does not sound to difficult to do, and in actuallity is a simple idea, adjusting the volume of the enclosure for reach the resonant frequency of the sub.
Check this page out for another way to tune a sub, http://www.diysubwoofers.org/faq.htm. Paying special note to 1.02 and 1.03. The predicted resonant frequency is provided by the manufactuer in the spec sheets and should be the target frequency. I am going to be doing this at work soon, and if you are interested I will post some pictures and results.

does 35 sound right for the predicted frequency of an alpine type r
they have 2 frequency 33 and 35 i dotn know how much of a difference there is in 2 hz but does that sound right? im goign to tryu tuning my sub later today.

Check here for more information. I was I little wrong in saying that you should tune to the open air resonance. The resonance depends on the enclosure and what type. I have to do this so don't take my word, but check out the websites.
