Turbo LS

Well i wanna try another Turbo setup this time with a b18b that has LOW MILES! 8.5k to be exact.. But what i wanna know is with street tires and boost at around 8-10psi with a T3/T4 57trim what kinda numbers would i be pushin? also what would be some 1/4 mile times.. ive searched and havnt found much at all..

i wanna do a pretty basic setup, Just add a BG, thicker head gasket and some ARP head studs.. As for fuel i already have a 255 HighFlow Fuel Pump, and either 370 or 550 injectors.


I was hoping with a setup like that to be somewhere in the low 13's maybe 12's

any info would be great if im going in the wrong direction..

The LS is a great motor to boost, they love boost. just rember to get you a set of APR rod bolts to handle the revs. just to give you an idea my car made 327 at 12 psi, thats on a ls block and b16 head, the motor is stock other than the turbo kit, if you want good numbers you will have to have a good tune. i am using AEM EMS. but not all people can handle the price of the aem.

yeah thats the most important thing about a turbo...u can have a really really nice setup and have a shitty tune and u will get beat by SOHC...so just make sure u get a good tuner...but LS engine is perfect to turbo..esp with those tranny...LS trannys are awesome

Thats what i need to get ahold of.. as of now i only got a B16 trans, never got the LS trans becuz it was and auto

b16 tranny > ls tranny all day long. keep the b16 tranny

he would be spinning to much with the b16 tranny and he doesnt have vtec so there is no need to stay in the higher rpm range, by higher rpm range i mean 5000 +

I was thinkin LS vtec but i dont want to waste a motor this fresh just yet.. This is going to be my 1st serious FI project some im going to take some time and do everything right, so it may not be done so quick..

also lookin into LSD this time.. The welded diff killed me last time..

vtec has nothing to do with it. and he will want to be in the high rpm range because thats where all the power is. but that doesnt depend on the tranny anyway

i hear everyone sayin a B16 is short and all but i honestly think it would be best for turbo.. 1st to 3rd is quick but 4th and 5th are kinda long, as for the LS its got almost even power though out the gears..

Im just speakin what i think, as of now with my car 1st to 3rd is strong, 4th is long and it kinda dies out untill vtec hits and 5th is pretty damn long

when i did have a LS tranny on this motor it had power in every gear and really didnt die untill 5th

ls paired with vtec is slow as balls. my cousins gsr swapped integ with his stock ls is pretty f**kin slow, he raced a stock neon, not the srt-4, the slowest of all and it almost beat him

Stock LS vtec to stock B16 = LS every single time, better torq curve in the bottem end longer gears= less shifting

um they have bout the same power dont they?? i thought neons had like 160? or 140? horsepower.....so it prolly ur cousin cant drive becuz my buddy as an 89 hatch with an LS and another buddy with a B16 and the LS beats him every time........so yea where do u get ls paired with vtec is slow as balls i think u need 2 get out and watch more races

ok for u guys that dont kno.....when u turbo a car.....vtec pretty much is gone....so higher rpm range is when the turbo kicks so it dont matter if he has vtec or not... just 2 clearify this

vtec is not actually gone but it still works aand makes bout an easy 10-15 % more power then non vtec motor with the same setup... its just harder to tune. but when vtec kicks in while in boost your rpm's are gonna shoot up quick.

less shifting is not a good thing... especially since the power of any B-series doesnt start kicking in till around 4500 and it doesnt reach full power till around 6 grand

I have to agree because longer gears means it take longer to get the RPM's up meaning longer it takes to spool up the turbo stay with the B16 or if anything built a hybrid trans gears 1-4 B16 5th LS that way you can still get some good gas mileage out of you car since gas price are a little over $3.00

im doubting your knowledge right now, thats all im going to say.










id stick the b16 tranny, or even better, get a gsr if you are gonna get a new trans.

the sohc neons have like 120-130 hp. my cousin CAN drive i KNOW that for a fact, becuase ive seen it first hand. ls paired with a completely stock gsr IS slow as balls. when he shifts it drops his rpms down so much that it takes too long to climb back into vtec. and look at the difference, you have a 89 CIVIC with a gsr and my cousins is a 94 INTEGRA with a gsr, bit of a weight difference
