actually, a b20 w/ a b16 head works much better. but regardless, b20vtec is going to be the most expensive option, especially if you like to drive hard.
type r head is good. it comes with a mile port job from factory. if you want extreme and planning on have your head ported/polished, then go with a b16 head. type r heads are worth $, jus the way they are. once you modify them, by porting/polishing, u jus took away their value

Aight, so it sounds like the b18c1 would be my best option, but how much the engine, shippiing and installation cost? Also,l would I have to get stiffer springs so that the car would not be too front- end heavy? You guys are a big help, thanks for the posts!

Aight, new question, which engine would be the easiest to drop into my car but still be worth dropping in? The more I look into getting an engine, the lazier I get... where would be a good, reliable place to get the aforementioned motors?

i was just wondering, because i wanna do a swap to, if i wanna go turbo would it be better to get a ls rather than a gsr motor?

i would still say gsr. but if yuo strapped for money, ls. you can still get decent power out of a ls. or you could jus put a vtec head on it too

well i just asked cuz i heard that the ls responds better to turbo because of its lower compression ratio.

ill3galdr1v3r has a very good point b/c I had planned on slappin a turbo on it right when I got the engine...

the lower cr just means you are allowed to do a sloppier tuning job. with a higher cr engine, the turbo spools faster and puts out more hp/psi... u can't cheap out on fuel management though.

u may be be able to boost a little higher right off the bat with a stock ls engine but in teh long run the gsr wil prevail. its a stonger motor and when you decide to put forged pistons in it, m sure you will get lower compression pistons.

but if u say the gsr is better even tho it has higher compression, if thats the case then wouldn't people be turbocharging b18c5's(type r motor)?
not trying to prove you wrong sleeepy808 i was just wonderin...

because the c5's compression ratio is high enough that it takes extremely good tuning to run much boost safely. the cams are also very poor for boost, they have way too much valve overlap.

oh, not saying higher compression is better for turbo. lower compressio is better. m jus trying to say, that since teh ls has a lower CR than a gsr, stock, u might be able to get alittle more power out of it than the gsr. but if you fully build both motors the gsr will prevail. and fully built means forged low compression pistons along with all the other goodies.
