if a quality thread gets started on the topic we'll seeayt. sticky it is!! good idea! ey, shouldnt theyre be an exhaust/muffler sticky too?just a thought
i wouldnt be surprisedso anybody else heard about the whale penis horse power LOSS story? i kept reading the same statement over and over again on honda club philippines.they say its a good intake for that good ol' vacuum swooshing sound...but not for power.damn it
Its looks nice.ok, so when i bought my EK the previous owner had put on a little Ractive short ram intake and the filters starting to get bad anyways so i've been looking at the password:jdm carbon fiber "whale penis" intake and i was wondering how good it is? it seems like people really like it but when i'm going to make a $180 investment in an intake, i want to make sure i'll get the most bang for my buck. i drive an EX so i'm running the D16Y8 engine too.
BOV turbo noises??Weapon-R secret weapon, so far 2 years and counting. Tried 4 other intakes and did not keep them more than a few months each.
pros
-good design (dimpled plenum, velocity stack filter, relocated IAT sensor)
-better gas mileage than stock (warmer air = less fuel used)
-slightly improved torque and hp
-quieter than other intakes
-filter works really well
-cool sucking and turbo bov noises at higher rpm
cons
-took some effort to install properly
-filter works too well and needs cleaning every 6 months
whoops....better take off my autozone intake on the b18 then....its in an eg...didnt even think about it sorryBOV turbo noises??
Sorry man, its 6th gen only, I appreciate your post though.
Not noticeable.other than sound and minimal power is there a MPG increase and if so how much?
