if a quality thread gets started on the topic we'll see ;)

the problem with exhaust setups is that everyone is picky about the sound, and well there's no real way to describe a sound with words, and there's probably not sound clips of every type of exhaust on the internet :???:

its probably a peak HP gain at like 7500 rpm, but a loss across the majority of the power band

ok, so when i bought my EK the previous owner had put on a little Ractive short ram intake and the filters starting to get bad anyways so i've been looking at the password:jdm carbon fiber "whale penis" intake and i was wondering how good it is? it seems like people really like it but when i'm going to make a $180 investment in an intake, i want to make sure i'll get the most bang for my buck. i drive an EX so i'm running the D16Y8 engine too.

i just really think putting more than like $40 into an intake is absurd. youre not getting any noticeable power increases out of it, why not spend $180 on something that will make a difference

Weapon-R secret weapon, so far 2 years and counting. Tried 4 other intakes and did not keep them more than a few months each.

pros

-good design (dimpled plenum, velocity stack filter, relocated IAT sensor)
-better gas mileage than stock (warmer air = less fuel used)
-slightly improved torque and hp
-quieter than other intakes
-filter works really well
-cool sucking and turbo bov noises at higher rpm

cons

-took some effort to install properly
-filter works too well and needs cleaning every 6 months =)

Akimoto Short Ram intake.

Pros:
Improved bottom end torque.
Awesome sound when hammered. Will sound even better after Skunk2 IM is installed.

Cons:
Been using it for 10yrs not sure if they even make them anymore.

after i put my skunk2 IM on, the short ram i have combined with it make a pretty cool sound. from idle to about 2500 rpms, you can hear it sucking air in.
