so you're saying you can't overcome a thick head with a proper pour?
Absolutely not. Like I said already, I didn't pour that. Even the Alaskan Brewing rep had a hard time pouring that beer without head though and it was quite comical.

And what's the problem with head on beer? Many of the beers I had last night at Delirium in Belgium (google it if you don't know) had plenty of head on them. Some were almost half the glass after pour. Does this mean the staff doesn't know what they're doing?

a lot of beers are supposed to have a head on them. keeps certain gases from escaping which would make the beer taste stale. typically its done with nitrogen when you purposely want a head, not carbon dioxide, but has the same effect.

Bush Ambree Triple. .75L of 75th Anniversary Brew - 12% ABV
A strong hint of alcohol, but still smooth taste.

Pauwel Kwak. Also from Belgium. - 8.4% ABV
Very little to no head off my pour. Surprising for a higher alcohol content darker beer. Don't have the traditional glass, so I'm drinking it once again from a Chimay glass. Does the job.

I'm sort of surprised there aren't more contributions. After all, it is mid-afternoon on a Saturday [it's about 12:30am here in Germany]...

I'm enjoying a Satan Gold - 8% ABV
Had a Satan Red at Delirium last night in Brussels, Belgium.
This is good, different from the dark ambers I've drank earlier tonight. Refreshing, quick drink.

The girlfriend is sipping on a Schöfferhoffer Hefeweizen - 5% ABV
It's a cheaper Weiß beer, but one of my favorites from when I lived in Germany back in 2005. We bought a case before we left for Munich, Amsterdam, and Brussels and are just now finishing it up. Very smooth, very drinkable, very gaseous... :D.

Vedett - Belgium - 5% ABV
Drank this after all of the darker heavier brews I had picked up from Belgium today, and honestly, it went down too fast. Not trying to speak any less of the quality of the beer, I just don't think I was able to appreciate it for what it's worth... :(.

Time for some Chimay :P

Chimay Première (Red) - Belgium - 7% ABV
I've got one of each (Red, White, Blue) to enjoy tonight. I usually spring for the Blue for the higher ABV. This time I found a limited edition pack in Brussels, Blegium with a collector's glass from 2007 in it, so I get to enjoy each brew in succession. I can't complain. Always been a big fan of Chimay.

Chimay Tripel (White) - Belgum - 8% ABV
The second of my three bottles of Chimay. Just as good but not as fresh tasting as the few I had off of the tap yesterday. Still pleasant and extremely enjoyable.

And yes, I know my pictures are starting to lack quality. Look at what I've drunk...

Chimay Grande Réserve (Blue) - Belgium - 9% ABV
The last in my "gift-pack" from Brussels. As good as I've always remembered it. A definite heavy taste, and bitter finish. Leaves your thirst quenched just enough for another sample. I personally love it, and will continue to.

I finally had some Stone Ruination IPA and their Ignorant Bastard Ale - those were so epically good. Along with some World Wide Stout from DFH, Sierra Nevada Torpedo, DFH 90 min IPA and a few others.

Are any of you guys on beer advocate?

damn.. I really want a high quality beer right now. Preferably a Hefe... I might need to make a run to the store tomorrow.

I really need to find a place with a good stock of different beers. I've just about tried everything at publix and my local ABC. I want something new.

All of the ones on the previous page were bought at the Bier Temple in Brussels, Belgium. They've got an amazing selection of fine Belgian beers. I forgot to get pictures of the Lambics that my girlfriend had earlier last night. A Kriek (cherry) and a Pecheresse (Peach I believe), both from Lindemans (also available in the states at most good beer stores).

Licher Hefeweizen - Germany - 5.4% ABV
The only Weizen that was available at the store the girlfriend went to today. Beautiful golden color. Light taste, very thirst quenching :D.

That is the exact one. Only the label on the one we had was a little more difficult to understand :P.
