I looked a my fathers past paycheck, it was 1000 dollar paycheck, 200 of that went to insurance for him and my mother, and that didn't include dental OR eyecare. Not to mention the 50 dollar copay. I never did understand the whole copay bullshit. If I'm paying for insurance, an UNGODLY amount for insurance, why am I still paying 20 or 40 bucks as a "copay?"
Your parents' situation is another clear example for the need to overhaul the health care system. Regarding co-pay, I believe that it came about to protect the health care system from being completely overwhelmed by the crazy hypochondriacs who would go to the doctor everyday, despite not being sick. The co-pay in theory would prevent this kind of abuse. Still, I agree with the premise of your objection about the co-pay.

heh, I pay $400 a month for health insurance (no dental) for my wife and I. Two young people in good health.

Four hundred f**king dollars a month. What does Obama's bill do to reduce that cost? Nothing. It makes expensive healthcare available to more people. Now even more people can pay out money but the people who don't work for s**t will just have the feds pay for it.
Basic arithmetic will tell you that health insurance companies can exist only by recruiting a majority of healthy participants who will in a sense subsidize a minority of sick participants. This is the reason that so many people with pre-existing illnesses are rejected by health care insurance companies. Too many sick participants would break the bank. The basic idea behind Obama's health plan is to require nearly everyone to participate so that a large pool of healthy people can subsidize health care for our sick citizens. I guess having such a large number of participants theoretically could also lower the average cost currently paid by people for health care, though major reforms would clearly be needed to achieve this goal.

It's not just for the people who don't have it, it's also for people who can't get it because they get turned down because they have cancer, or their insurer drops them because they are costing too much money with chemo and other medications. This is a country where everyone needs health care. I don't go to the doctor because I don't have insurance because I don't want to pay for it, so I just deal with the health issues that pop up, but there are children and old folks who don't have insurance because they can't afford or their parents can't afford it so they end up getting a cold or a fever and a few weeks later having to be rushed to the hospital with no insurance and no way to pay for the cost.

Either way, someones paying for it, that's where your tax money comes in from. It's not YOUR tax money, it's the governments tax money, since they own the money.
Vermont provides health insurance for children WITHOUT f**king everybody in the a*****e.

That's Vermont. It's operating costs aren't that of California, Texas, Florida, ect
Vermont's population is also only 621,000
The City of Los Angeles ALONE has over 3.8 MILLION.

3 million of them being illegal... so... that leaves about 800,000 legal residents, which is pretty damn close to the population of Vermont ;)

You're right, Vermont is doing it with a much smaller tax base funding it.

The thing is that there are a few other issues that need to be addressed all at the same time, or one right after another in order for healthcare reform to be true & successful. The first issue that comes to mind is illegal immigration. All those "extra" people put a strain on the health system as well. It's like a bunch of dominoes really, all these issues. You can't knock one down without knocking all the others.

people illegally in the country is the NUMBER one concern.. it f**ks EVERYTHING up...

*illegal immigrants earn US money here, and send a large chunk of it back "home", every time a dollar leaves our nation we are one step closer to being broke...
*illegal immigrants have kids just like everyone else.. these kids go to school.. who pays for these "extra kids"? the TAX payers of the community..Illegal immigrants put a strain on ALL resources that are dealt out based on population as they are not accurately counted..
*Illegals take up jobs jobless Americans could be working..
*when illegal immigrants create crime its a cluster f**k trying to track them down since they are totally undocumented...

But the BEST is that there are actually ASSHOLES WORKING "FOR" US who THINK that these people deserve some kind of special f**king consideration.. people who have voted to ALLOW them things..

I have said it a million times over.... if someone ILLEGALLY entered my home... i would handle the situation in a course of SECONDS via 12 gauge shotgun... WHY IS IT.. that my MULTI-TRILLION DOLLAR government cant keep my COUNTRY as SAFE as my APARTMENT.. WTF AM I PAYING YOU FOR GOVERNMENT... you give me NOTHING but a hard time.. its like.. enough is enough already..

I don't consider a Web site that can't even offer the same information for each state as a viable source of information.
Look at it's references. Most of it is directly from the Vermont's website.
